Do people not understand how vague this is? North America? South America? Its all the Americas. Canada is "America" Mexico is "America" Paraguay. Brazil. Chile. Argentina. Peru. Venezuela. These all make up the Americas. Its like saying you are from Europe, Africa, or Asia. Doesn't really narrow it down. Where in? --- If you want something done right, do it yourself. That might be an issue in another language, in Spanish you'd have to say you're from Estados Unidos (the United States) or else people will be confused. As a Brit, I have said I'm European sometimes, depending on the context of the conversation. We also often default to calling people from Canada/US Canadian if we can't tell, because Canadians will be far more offended at being called American than the other way around in my experience. --- Fan of metal? If I hear someone say theyre from America then its always meant theyre from the USA. Ive never had someone tell me what continent theyre from. I work with a lot of Europeans and when I ask where theyre from theyll specify the country. Even the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish specify their country and dont say theyre from the UK ... This sounds like it is an everybody else problem not a USA problem. If someone for the United States says "I'm American" everyone knows what they mean. It sounds like the "problem" the TC has is if someone from Brazil says "I'm American" people will think they mean the United States, and they will have to explain they mean the South American country of Brazil. So the solution is to convince the rest of North and South America to refer to themselves as "American" and convince the rest of the world to understand that America is more than just on country. --- Starfire: "They are too numerous to fight.
