You see, Americans have a very limited number of fucks to give. They're so precious that we have to keep them stored in the local fuck bank for fear of losing them.

So when someone says, "Let's go," like that or, more accurately, the full uncensored phrase of, "Let's fucking go," it means that an activity has crossed the threshold where we've deemed it worth giving a fuck over. Now, because our fucks are stored in the fuck bank, we have to go down there and retrieve one so that it can be appropriately given.

This later developed into other phrases. "It's so over," means that the trip to the fuck bank has been cut short and is now over, while, "We're so back," means that we're back at the fuck bank to withdraw again. Of course, both phrases also have the uncensored version with "fucking" in them.

Not an American thing at all, more a thing streamers say. I've never heard someone outside of the internet use it.

Anyone that speaks English does it. Its annoying.

I'm surprised at the amount of people saying it came from strangers, at least here it's been a thing long before that though

It's used a lot in music. At the start of songs or before a breakdown/solo.

Anything is better than 'wooooooo'.

This is a young person thing. Back when I was a boy, back when dinosaurs roamed, we stayed where we were no matter how exciting things got. And we liked it!

Now my sons and all their friends do the Lets gooooooo shout whenever something good occurs. I am almost relieved when it happens, because it is one of the few times I know what they are actually saying. I have gotten to the point in my life where I dont understand young person slang generally. Yes, it has fallen to this.

I don't think I've ever heard this.

If someone is saying "Let's go", they're in the start up phase.

I definitely hear it all the time. And it's definitely before "Let's Go Brandon" was a thing. My friend has been saying that in college we graduated 10 years ago.

Definitely noticed this picking up in the last few years. Seems like it started as a young person thing that has spread to everyone else, now it's like the go-to hype phrase. Not a huge fan.

The term "Let's go" meaning "It's time to leave" has been around forever, and sports fans using it as a chant has been around for decades ("Lets Go Mets!"), but kids and athletes using it originates from the video in post #9 gaining meme popularity over the last few years.

I have heard this phrase used, irl even, since as far back as 2006. Idk, maybe it's my northwestern US sensibilities and the fact that such language is the norm for us in any non-professional setting...

I don't know where this one started. Some people say sports, some say AAVE. But CE is way off in thinking that it's a recent thing. My brother used to say it a lot like 11-12 years ago
