It's interesting that you post this right now. I'm currently reading a fat positivity book for a book club that talks about how yes, people are getting bigger in the US, but the threshold for overweightness and obesity was pushed down a few decades ago and people that used to be considered normal weight are now overweight, and those that used to be considered overweight are now obese, which is part of how we got to such high numbers.

That changed what it meant to be overweight in the 1990s. So yeah people who were normal got pushed to the overweight.

I do notice a lot of overweight and obese people at the gym, since I joined Planet Fitness back in April.

I'm glad to still be maintaining an average weight the last few years, even despite my diet isn't all that great.

Well, that seems wrong. I admit, Im 175. My brother is fat, my other brother is lean, and where I live I feel like only 3 out of 20 people I see are obese.

Do I live in a skinny part of America? Weird if true.

Our food definitely sucks but I think our over reliance on cars certainly doesn't help. And it's done so much damage that I'm not sure it's really reversible.

It was super cool being able to walk everywhere in Japan and I think that significantly helped me lose a bunch of weight while I was over there (along with just being really convenient). But now I'm back in America and my town barely even has sidewalks and everything's spread so far that walking is annoyingly unfeasible. The US has basically designed itself into a fat corner.

I would do that too, in order to save money on gas, but my work consists of going to several buildings around town and cleaning the place with the other employees. I wouldn't be able to be on time without a car.

It's literally this easy. I get no exercise aside from my retail job and I can't even gain weight despite how much I eat. I just avoid corn syrup like the plague and stick to organic foods. If people actually took the time to research the ingredients they eat, they'd wonder how the stuff ever got approved for human consumption.

Idk if that book gets into it, but go down the rabbit hole of insurance companies pushing towards its use to measure individuals for additional related info that's weird.

We need some sort of cheap dexa scanner at every doctor's office. Someone invent that please. You'll get very rich
