The scariest thing to me is just how largely captured the public is by right wing lies even people who aren't maga wearing freaks are captured by it, hell even some progressives are captured by it

What is most disturbing to me is how weak the reasons people claim to have voted for him are. I knew that America expressed a bizarre degree of pride at how ignorant we are. This just took it to a new level. It's like all it took was four years to forget what Trump did when he was president.

I take solace that democracy will survive, but bruised. I have to believe that.

And the republicans will never find anyone who resonates with people like Trump. He was their Obama in the sense they rose from long shots to being the nominee.

People love Trump, they voted for him and ignored the rest of the ballot in many cases.

He will 100% make life worse, all blame will shift to the next R nominee and after he dies things may get closer to normal.

The consolation is this could break people who voted for him and really see it. Not the cult members. Just the guy who pulled the lever for Trump because groceries or he thought tariffs would punish China.

We could see a big swing back to blue in 2026. Not holding my breath. Not holding my breath people will see how bad it is but if people are getting deported left and right, innocent brown skinned civilians get caught up in it, if Stephen Miller's turbocharged denaturalizatoon program deports a lot of legal citizens who don't know any home but the US who have been nothing but patriotic, if tariffs make lots of shit expensive we'll see.

First go around it was dumb and stupid and then covid hit and it got dumber. But this time it could be catastrophic enough his approval rating tanks outside of his cult and the average US citizen dislikes him.

I don't want these things to happen. But they very well could so there could be a swing back. But you can't just say "vote Dem, Trump sucks" even if you have proof, that strategy has not worked.
