Clinton was the face of Third Way Democrats. Their plan was to chase the center to take voters from Republicans. When the GOP loses the center, where do you think it is going to go?

I think they accelerated the GOP's radicalization rather than actually causing it, though.

Truly incredible how some folks will blame literally anything but GOP voters for the GOP's turn to the right.

Sure, Bill Clinton was running in 1992 after twenty something years of Republican domination, which mighta necessitated winning over a GOP voter or three, but nope. Democrats wanting to win? THAT was what help drive the GOP insane. Why did the Dems make the GOP hit them?

Nothing's come of this 4 days out, I doubt it'll have an impact.

Also, Muslim Americans are probably a lost demographic to us, and not just because of Gaza.

Yeah, the online left are going to have egg on their faces if Harris appealing to Republican moderates pans out strongly.

Of course that's also a bad thing if this means the Dems decide to stop trying to appeal to progressives. In which case, how'd being unpleasable turn out, online left?

It's not even like this is alien to them. Bernie's strategy was "i can win them over with economics," and they still clearly believe these people are just secret socialists who'll turn out for pure economic calculations. Harris is just winning them the "wrong" way.

Would be nice if we could start viewing the ongoing US-sponsored massacre in Gaza as more than just a prop for the election.

The Republicans have been defying political gravity for a while now, tacking further right even as they're losing more and more of the country. It's been 20 years since a Republican candidate won the popular vote, and the time they did it before that was in the 80s. Seems to me like Clinton's plan worked pretty well.

I remember when Clinton was seen as one of the presidents that had the best relationship with minorities and was seen as progressive...pepole really do see everyone before them as not good enough.

I don't get how you can see a guy who campaigned on, "ending welfare as we know it" as a progressive.

Anyway he did have a good relationship with minorities. That doesn't mean his policies helped minorities. Trump has a good relationship with rednecks, but his policies don't help them.

Trump is absolutely not turning a blind eye to Palestine. If anything he's aiming to accelerate its destruction, if only just so he doesn't have to hear about it anymore. After all the more the news talks about the conflict, the less time they have to talk about him.

NAFTA was good tho.

In fact Trump was one of its biggest critics. Then when he got president he undid NAFTA and replaced it to be like 99% the same but with a different exchange for milk & lumber/paper with Canada and suddenly it was the best thing ever because his name was on it.
