I've always wondered why people do this too. Do they not understand the point of turn signals? I guess at least they put in SOME effort. There are so many people here who just.... don't use them at all.

Know what sucks? Growing up I was fine, whatever. As you get older, you realize that a majority, and I'm talking, a vast fucking majority of drivers are absolute shit tier human beings who have no care in the world that they're driving several ton vehicles at alarming speeds.

You turn your signal on, what does the car that's 4 lengths behind you in the lane to the right do? Speeds all the way up, so they're side by side with you, just so you don't turn into their lane in front of them. And this isn't a one off. It's probably 9/10 that will happen.

Now here in Florida, we pride ourselves on being absolute dog shit drivers. I'm unsure of the statistics now, but I know growing up and when I first started driving, it was common knowledge that Florida had among the highest vehicle mortality rates in the country. That's why our insurance rates were through the roof and don't ever drop or even level out to national average.

Looking it up, seems Mississippi and West Virginia took the mantle.

I took a defensive driving class (back before online defensive driving) with a lady who was ticketed for using her signal to throw off the other drivers on the freeway.

If she wanted to change lanes to the left, shed signal with the right.

Which is exactly what she did to a state trooper.

OMG yes. That's one of my biggest pet peeves when driving. I think people use their signal only because they want to obey the law. Not to actually let drivers around them know what they're going to do.

It's so annoying when a car in front of me suddenly starts braking at a green light, and only activates their left turn signal after they're fully stopped and waiting for an opening in the incoming traffic. You need to start signaling before you even start breaking ffs.

I always use my signal, but I did get pulled over for "not turning them on before 100ft of my stop".

I pointed to where I turned them on at and said it's more like 180ft. Also said, what if I change my mind at the stop and decide to turn?

He started asking me about my fishing pole and what I was going for. Let me go...just sniffing around.

Now what does bother me a ton is when Im trying to turn onto a busy road, and people dont use their blinker when turning onto the road that Im trying to exit. If theyd used the blinker, I coulda turned while they were slowing down to make their turn.

Hate to admit it, but you're 100% right.
9/10 times I can actually change lanes if I don't wait to change lanes after I've thrown on my signal. The signal is always a warning that I'm going to move over into your lane, not a request or permission.

Never make the assumption that people are going to be generous and let you change lanes if you wait patiently. The thing you have to make sure you're doing properly though, is making sure the other person's car is a safe distance away before you do it. That's also why I step on the gas when I'm about to merge, not the brakes.

if the gap is close enough that they're able to take it before you even start merging you've either gotta get over faster or wait because it was obviously too small of a gap
