I recently tried getting back into MK and Tekken, forgetting how rusty I was at both. I love the fighting game genre, even though im not very good.
whats your favorite fighting game series, CE?

BlazBlue is my favorite but I hope it stays a dead series. I hate the direction fighting games have gone and it's pretty much a dead genre to me. Tournaments aren't even exciting to watch anymore.

BlazBlue is still the GOAT to me. Everything about the mechanics and balance just feels right, plus the best characters and OST

It took em a minute to get that balance right, but maybe I'm biased because Tager main. It was the first series I ever tried to take seriously and I loved it.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is my favorite game of all time... and it may never get a proper port from 360.

Street Fighter is my favorite fighting series.

Street Fighter IV is my favorite game, period.

SF but Im better at Tekken

GG's probably the most consistent for me, I like Xrd more than Strive but Strive's pretty fun

Season 4 looks to be a pretty exciting one on paper, even if I don't care for Dizzy

Although considering how they did Elphelt and Bedman, I'm a little afraid they're going to destroy Venom beyond recognition

while street fighter looked cool, tekken 3 was my shit back then

Mortal Kombat and Tekken are my favorites.

DBZ Budokai, FighterZ etc. I'm not really into fighting games

tekken is the only one that makes sense to me. Left punch, right punch, left kick, right kick

all other fighting games are weird inputs and strict execution.

Street Fighter 6 is my love right now, but I have history with Smash. Currently have Aki in Masters and Ken is Diamond 5. I want to eventually get every character to master but that will take a while.

Wish they'd get off their ass and make a Persona 5 Arena already but I digress

I have no hope for Venom after what they did to Testament's moveset. That shit was the absolute death knell of the game for me.

Never spent the time in learning move sets so I dont appreciate them I guess. I picked Mortal Kombat because at least you have a really fun and creative gimmick that has a WOWZA factor.

Didn't get such games much, but I played:

- Street Fighter 2 World Warrior (Rented)
- Street Fighter 2 Turbo (Cart and SNES Classic)
- Super Street Fighter 2 The New Challengers
- Power Rangers Fighting Edition
- Justice League Task Force (SNES)

Ok though, played various Smash Bros.

Street fighter 6 has a thing called modern controls that makes special moves just a direction and button input. There is drawbacks though like you can't do every version of every move. (Light medium strong) And they do less damage. But being able to pull moves off that easily makes up for irlt

Remember, Brolylegs could barely use his limbs, played with his face, and could still play well. You can do a qcf+p with two fully functioning hands.

If you would have asked me in the 90s it'd be Virtua Fighter. That shit was next level.

Loved Blazblue. The story got really garbo, but the game was fun and the characters were all unique.

KoF is next. Love the characters and dumb lore. I think it is a bit wackier than SF since it has magical demon lineage stuff, aliens, and lab experiments. SF dabbled in this occasionally but rarely had the courage to stick with it,

Too bad MVC: I killed the series. UMVC3 was goated. They had the formula down. All they had to do was just expand it for a sequel

BlazBlue is definitely a GOAT to me, but 3rd Strike and Super Turbo among many other greats puts Street Fighter over the top. I am really unhappy with the current direction of fighting games though.

Edit: I should add that I really like Under Night, of the still current fighting games.

Yeah I feel that. Too much emphasis on the new gimmicks, and Strive just doesn't read as Guilty Gear to me at all. Though it's kinda funny, cause before I learned GG proper, I would've wanted something just like Strive.

I thought DB Fighterz and GranBlue would just be a sort of alternative more accessible style where characters follow a common base with some unique stuff on top. But then Guilty Gear decided to do the same thing. All these unique characters got homogenized in Strive and it really bums me out.

In terms of story and world my favorites are Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur.

In terms of gameplay, DoA.

I've also got a huge soft spot for janky licensed fighters. Digimon Battle Spirit for the GBA and Godzilla for the GameCube had a lot of charm.

i tend to get top 4 at my strive local, which is good results for someone with cerebral palsy and in a region with top 10 na players regularly joining (umisho and razzo most notably)

i think smash is my favorite overall though, but i don't care to play it competitively

Played the shit out of mk 1 2 and 3 back in the sense days.

Then tekken 2 in the psx days.

Then nothing up until sf4, which really didn't work for me. Tried my hand at sf 5 as well, but no dice there either.

Also got into mk10 and 11 which was ok, but can't find the time or motivation to really get into them anymore

Nah, playing tager was true pain in the original version. Holy shit the nu13 match-up was one of fighting game's most bull-shit.

I remember legit trying, eventually said screw it and swapped over to using hakumen.

I really like blazblue as a series, but I didn't play much of it beyond the first 2 entries.

The capcom vs games is my favorite fighting series. Not MVC2 though.....game was a unbalanced mess and I didn't care for the 4 button change, characters not having themes and the 2.5D backgrounds. I'm all about x-men vs street fighter, marvel vs street fighter and marvel vs capcom 1. Them purty 2D backgrounds, the flash and the awesome music.

Good. It had a lot of weird wonky broken things. Just go play ST on the SF collection on modern consoles.

I think my favorite fighting game is either UMvC3 or BBTAG. Or modded BBCF with superboss characters made by Demonseth999 lol

Well I must say it's the best of its specific style of fighter. It's the only 3D or 8 way run fighter I actually really enjoy.

As much as I love create a character I sorta hate it's a thing at the same time. Namely because it's made me me care less about the characters themselves. It definitely hurts 5. Like thirdstrike it replaced a lot of the familiar characters with new ones. But with thirdstrike while people moaned about it some characters became beloved.

Sc 5 had CAC so nobody really fell in love with any of the new characters

I know ST is sort of a sacred calf, but that doesn't mean you have to lie. You can just not like something without making up stuff to justify it.
