I feel like England has looked much more convincing in other tournaments than now, it would be ironic for sure.

Feel a bit more relaxed about this, akin to the France game

vs. Italy I felt we had a comparable or better team on paper and we were at home; they'd been playing excellently but it felt like the pressure was on us
vs. Croatia, despite having not a very good squad in 2018, felt tantalisingly winnable

But vs. France we were not at home, we were playing the World Champions, against a team with Mbappe and Kante and everyone else. vs. Spain, a composite team would be fairly even, but they've been playing so well.

Yes, our failure to dish out any kind of thrashing this tournament has been a bit of a shame. The 4-0 vs. Ukraine in 2021, Senegal and Iran in 2022, Panama in 2018. That notion of "attacking the tournament" has largely gone, and we've just bullshitted our way through. But like, whatevs.

I don't understand all the comments I've read this morning about it not being a penalty. Studs up into his foot, affected the shot, got zero of the ball. Absolutely anywhere else on the field that's an instant foul with zero debate. Yet in the penalty area it's debatable?

It's weird, but it's like I said, I think we just see late challenges differently if there's a shot vs. if there's a pass. Neville calling it a "block" is particularly missing the point - he went in late on the player.

Before Kane just got a yellow (which was fair), I was gonna say that the ref seemed to only give the thin free kicks to England lol.

The ref could at least give verbal warning to Pickford, just because it's early and it's 0-0, you should not be allowed to waste +30 seconds with goal kicks. That's not the rule.

Ah yeah didn't particularly think Williams was looking bad, just the game as a whole. Been really impressed by Williams this tourney and very impressed by Walker right now too. Think Southgate will be happy with the football terrorism we've seen, England have better subs and probably better penalty takers.

We look better offensively playing 3-4-3 but high wingbacks is suicidal against these players, so we're stuck with this at least until Spain score

I'm not sure England has better subs. More profilic yes, but that's also easily the case with who is on the field now.

Spain works as a team because they're quite even. I had little idea who would start before the tournament. I'd say they have plenty of people on the bench that has proven themselves as much if not more.

Spain only needs to be a little bit sharper and they are behind 4-0 before it happens. This is not without luck. Goal was in itseld. but not only being behind 1-0 at the time.
