Southgate has been an excellent England manager and should be lauded in terms of his entire tenure, but this loss will be all that is remembered of his entire reign. Shame. I had no complaints about him during 2018, 2020(1) or 2022 and maintain it was objectively wrong to want him gone after those tournaments. The things that made him good are simply not there anymore - he has stayed too long.
