I got mine about a decade ago for 50 cents. I thought it was a dollar, but it that colors discount day at goodwill.
Something tells me when thrift shops stopped wanting them, they went up in price and then covid sent anything retro through the roof in price. --- Warning: Sometimes biased http://i.imgur.com/V0x5fw8.jpg http://i.imgur.com/IOovUge.gif http://i.imgur.com/zw7bqPH.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

If you watch on marketplace (facebook) there are plenty of families that still give them away. Then there are the people overpricing them as 'gaming TVs'.

Was looking on ebay, even small and portable ones can cost over $100 easily That's why they are pricey, if everyone and their dog put their CRT in storage they would be far cheaper. Since they were all tossed and replaced with HDTV's you have high prices. Crap the only people that actually use them are old school gamers that want to get that pure feel of playing a Genesis or Super Nintendo game on the most optimal TV. --- Getting too damn old for this crap! ... if everyone and their dog put their CRT in storage they would be far cheaper. There's very little incentive to do that, though. Storage is for "I expect I'll want/need this later, even though I don't right now." If you're storing a spare TV after replacing it with a newer one, it's because you expect you'll want another TV somewhere down the road. Flat panels are cheap enough now, though, that the cost of storing a CRT of comparable size pretty quickly outweighs just getting rid of the CRT and buying a new flat panel when the time comes, especially when that option offers better image quality (for most uses), more versatility in where you put it, and a vastly easier item to move around (including being virtually free to store). --- This is my signature. It exists to keep people from skipping the last line of my posts. ... Copied to Clipboard!
