I've been summoned for jury duty. Absolutely do not want this. I have no idea how much they get paid, but two weeks of way lower pay is fucking brutal for me ahead of getting a $2500 tattoo.

Pay and mileage will be abysmal, but civic duty must be done.

I'm like 80% sure my work actually makes up the difference during jury duty, so we'll see.

I would frankly love to be summoned for jury duty. I've got so much PTO, and my friend who recently got called said it was so boring all they did was read the entire time and knocked out like 3 books in as many days.

Pretty sure you have to pass a interview to see if you're fit for jury duty.

True. I also have some digestive issues from getting my gallbladder removed, which might lead to them excusing me altogether.

You can get fined or arrested for ignoring a summons I believe? I might state that I'm heavily biased, but I think straight up saying you're going to ruin a trial by being belligerent is something they may also be able to punish you for.

I've gotten summoned three times.

Twice I was given a location to go to and had to go downtown. I didn't get selected for either trial. I think for the first one I actually gave an answer that the lawyers disliked enough that I was passed over specifically, and the second time I was pretty far back in the call order so had a slim chance of being selected anyway.

The third time I was officially summoned but I just had to keep checking for instructions and it turned out I didn't have to physically go somewhere...but it still sucked because I had to tell my company I needed to POSSIBLY go to jury duty (which was true) in person, so it was kinda awkward but whatever.

And don't listen to people to tell you to ignore the jury duty summons. You can legit push back your date that you have to go...but yeah, if you do that and you're what I'd call just a regular person (not a company executive or something), it's a bit of a waste of time. The times I had to go I lost maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of a regular work day in terms of time.

Just say that your philosophical beliefs prevent you from ever siding with law enforcement due to their historical issues with fabricating evidence, killing unarmed suspects, and coercing confessions, while receiving qualified immunity, desk duty and paid time off when caught.

I remember getting one in the mail and I dreaded it for days until they cancelled it for some reason.

I've been summoned over ten times, maybe fifteen, but only served on one trial to completion.

I've never been summoned, not that I'd be picked anyway because I can't sit for long periods of time.

Same. I got three dates I was required to show up for. Each case got settled prior to jury selection so I never had to go.
