So that last confessional... Maria so confidently stating that Charlie is going home makes me think otherwise. Does she really think Liz and Kenzie are on board with that?

I feel like the edit is basically telling us "Q is going home." There's no surprise to this tribal council, unless Q plays his idol. So I hope he plays his idol.

The family metaphor here reminds me of the Cagayan F5 leading to Cesternino and Cochran doing a full synopsis of "The Vlachos" sitcom. Love casts like that where they become like a family, but still fight all the time.

Also... Venus not overdoing the makeup is great.

Have all the votes ever appeared before the votes are actually read?

The whole drama hinged on whether or not Q played his idol. Fitting that the 3 before him didn't play an idol and he too is victim of it.

That was such an insane edit. I legit wondered as the votes were being read (and even during the pause afterwards) if Q's idol was a super idol.

God this boot order has been absolute shit the past few episodes. If you hate Q that much, why couldn't you have booted him over Venus? Instead we lose Tiff, Venus and Q all back-to-back.

Loved that they showed all the votes, since the only suspense was "Will Quitavius play his idol?" Glad we got nearly a whole season of an enigmatic contestant like him. AND he revealed that he had the idol - and its curse - as he packed his things.

And now, since Charlie is the one who told Maria and Liz and Kenzie didn't, Charlie and Ben can get the Siga band back together.

And YESSS NO NEW BEACH TWIST! S44 taught Jeff a lesson to vary it up a little. But it will probably be "Odd seasons have it, even seasons don't"

Yeah, Q and Maria were far too confident there that I thought there was no way he was going to play his idol.

It looked like Kenzie was carrying something on the way out, so it looks like they were prepared for it.

After watching this season, with 4? people In a row going home with idols in their pocket, are newer contestants going to spam idol plays?

I mean at 6 left...guaranteed final five...borrow from Nike and Just DO it.

The problem is that new era players are so insistent on making #BIGMOVEZ, so when they find an idol, they want to use it to blindside someone, rather than using it defensively.

It really is disappointing that Siga makes up 3/5 of the finale. The lamest tribe of the season dominating.

Venus and Q definitely didn't see it coming. Tiff should've played it on the Hunter boot just to be rid of it(like Maria did with the extra vote) and Hunter got too cute with it.

Maybe. Though season forty-several started filming around the start of the month AFAIK (right after Jeff had that pop-up event in LA at the end of April) so maybe that cast didn't see these last two. S48, though, different story.

Using it defensively is the superior stratagem because it helps you get to the end. If you don't make it to the F3, you can't win.

Hunter was dumb with bluffing his idol back at camp, which only exacerbated the already big target on his back.
Tiff should have just thrown it out at either F9 or F8 just to get rid of it since Quitavius can't be trusted to keep a secret. I get keeping it through F9 as a roll of the dice, but not TWO more votes.
Venus should've recognized that the conversation with Charlie had blown up in her face, and played the idol as a failsafe (which would've sent Kenzie home because Ben forgot how to spell). But hey, that means she's around another vote!
And Quitavius was already seeing his spot in the F3, getting way ahead of himself, and for some reason believed that Liz and Kenzie would want Charlie out. No idea why he'd think that if he understood their positions at all. Downright stupid play. CLEARLY, if Kenzie and Liz side with Q/Maria, their only option is Q/Maria, who have no reason to take either of them to the end.

Seriously, this cast is so bad at the game, and the season is way better because of it.

This detour seemed like it could be interesting, but then they said "Oh yeah, just do the drinks one at a time instead of remembering all six at once."

Vis, I'm gonna ask you this since if anyone's gonna know a stat like this off the top of their head it's you - do Ricky & Cesar have a chance to finish this with the highest average leg placement ever?

I saw on Reddit that they guaranteed it last week even if they go out in 4th.

Yeah. They beat Eric & Jeremy's average placement last week. At this point, if they go out fourth, their average is 1.6 to Eric & Jeremy's 1.67. And if they finish 3rd and 3rd, their average is 1.64.

Ricky & Cesar finally finding something they're not good at.

Well based on that cut to commercial I'm like 95% positive this is their successful attempt.

I know, it was like, half sweet, half "um... I would have sooner expected a breakup..."

Rooting for Rod & Leticia by default.

I don't hate Ricky & Cesar, but they just haven't inspired any emotion in me all season.

And Juan & Shane winning would feel like such...expected winners based on the pre-season.

Sounds like I made a good call taking a hard pass on this season of TAR. The 90-minute episodes and COVID protocols were not a good combination... especially on a season where there were a lot of issues and boring, predictable winners. Like I saw what happened to Angie & Danny and I was disgusted. They were eliminated at literally 0% fault of their own. At least there were some teams that were out early that were fun messes, but it really sounds like the last few episodes were outright bad.

I hope the TAR hiatus until next spring due to that new show The Summit (that looks like it'll be a long 90 minutes unless they encourage drama like Outlast did) taking its time slot will get Bertram & Elise to reevaluate some things with the extended runtime, hopefully resulting in a much better product. We need more drama, we need more culture, and we need more moments of genuine humanity. If they do that instead of just showing people completing tasks with a scenic backdrop, maybe TAR37 will actually hook me again...

How I'm currently thinking the Survivor finale goes down...

Maria is booted in 5th place as a threat.

Kenzie wins final immunity, brings Liz, Ben beats Charlie in firemaking.

Kenzie wins with jury votes from Q, Venus, Tiffany, Tevin and Soda. Ben gets Charlie, Maria and Hunter. Liz is happy to be there.

Though I do agree that Maria is 5th - they don't want her winning another challenge, because then she wins the game.

I think Charlie wins final immunity, brings Ben, and Kenzie and Liz struggle, but Kenzie comes out on top.

Kenzie gets two votes, from Venus and Tiff, but Charlie gets everybody else. I've been saying Kenzie is giving off losing finalist vibes for quite a while and I still feel that way.

This is easily the best season of the new era for my partner and me (she started watching at 42). Best since DvG.

It has DEFINITELY improved as it's gone on. I wasn't impressed with the pre-merge but it's grown on me. I'm nervous about the finish though. The two best characters (note I said characters, not players) going out back-to-back leading up to the finale while a lot of people who have either been mostly boring or underedited remain kinda sucks.

Evidently, this final five has been officially spoiled by production for over six months, and people only just started to pick up on it a few weeks ago.

A waist-down shot of them walking to the F5 immunity challenge was included in both the season preview at the end of the S45 finale, and was shown again in the opening montage of episode 1.

This is sort of similar to people figuring out the entire make-up of Kaoh-Rong's jury because for some stupid reason they included a (waist-down) shot of them walking to TC in a Cambodia episode (I think Jason's tats gave it away and people were able to narrow down who the rest of the legs belonged to).

Just binged all the way up to this final 5 for Survivor. Pretty good season after Bhanu got booted.

My number one from the start is still in it. Go Kenzie! Also Charlie was my number two so hopefully they just get rid of Maria and I'm set!

But what I think seals the deal is specifically them having Maria say "only one of us can win". I think that cements the winner of the Maria/Charlie dynamic as the winner of the season. Coronation line for Charlie.

The only good thing for Kenzie is that she's had a REALLY good edit. Post merge she hasn't really had any plays though so I really can't see her winning against Charlie or Maria. I think her only path to win is if they are both ousted before the final 3.

Well, it's really more like the consensus is Kenzie, with Charlie as the default 2nd choice, but with much higher confidence in Kenzie.

I'm not fully sold and sort of lean Charlie myself, but I can see a storyline where her social connections earn it for her, combined with people resenting Charlie for supporting evil queen Maria and much-hated Q for so long.

And tbh, Survivor rarely edits female winners with this much prominence. I wouldn't consider that a dealbreaker, but it is a pretty strong pattern, sadly. If Kenzie wins, it'll actually be a really momentous moment for the series, especially when people speculated the first female winner in 5 years or w/e would surely have a big edit and we got Erika.

Liz really is an amazing addition to this cast...that move was SO mean-spirited, but it's so hilarious.

tbh I don't think that should've been allowed until Liz completed her puzzle. Because that would mean everyone could gang up against the one person on the outs and take away their way out.
