Kid knows what's good. I've been trying to leave him to figure it out himself and only helped with the deeply secret stuff that took the rest of a us a few playthroughs to figure out.

I still love that 2D style and think its a strong contender for best Zelda game ever. I wish they would make another mainline game in this style. They wont but I would like it.

Never played it because my whole life up until Switch I never played handheld systems. And even Switch is a hybrid that I only ever played hooked up to my tv like a console.

Its like with Sony I dont ever consider the PSP or Vita a mainline system like I do PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5.

Im sure some people would disagree with me but yeah I never think of handheld systems or the games that were on them.

Im basically the same as you, but I broke down and got a 3DS XL for A Link Between Worlds and its an excellent game / sequel, so I recommend playing it however you can.

Like the invisibility cloak. One of those extra items that's not required so you'd never look for it.

That damn worm boss pissed me off SO MUCH on my first playthrough but I suffered through it and eventually came out on top and finished the game.

My second playthrough, I dreaded the hell out of it the whole playthrough, and it knocked me down a good 15 or 20 tries before it finally clicked how its AI works. Then I walloped it immediately.

I dunno, I must have missed the hint somewhere but it just never occurred to me that it doesn't know where you are until it looks directly at you. Just seemed like a completely random pattern to me.

I played through the game many times as a teen but it wasn't until I played it again years later that there was a much better order to do the dungeons in than the way they are numbered.

Definitely. In the dark world I always do 6 before 5 just because the cane of somaria makes that block puzzle much easier

Thar and I do 4 right after 1 for the mitt and the sword upgrade.

I'm embarrassed that I had to look up what LttP was (no, I did not read through the thread first, just the title and OP).

I love how much freedom of dungeon order you have once you hit the dark world and get the hammer. Only a couple true hard restrictions such as needing Somaria for Turtle Rock. Not as open as Zelda 1, but still nice.

As have I via SNES classic.

Also decided to try something related to my curiosity. Namely putting off bombing the wall in the Quarreling Brothers' house until visiting the other side first due to arriving from the Dark World with the Magic Mirror.

Game did account for sequence breaking with some Pendants and Maidens, plus what I did requires no cheating device or glitch, so what was the result?

LttP was one of the first games I played, back in the SNES days, I think I was around 5, and I was TERRIBLE at it. I made it maybe one or two dungeons into the Dark World before I basically gave up until I revisited it years later. Still loved it, one of my favorite games ever and it holds up shockingly well for being over 30 years old.

Hard Mode makes a big difference, to the point where ALBW took a major leap on my franchise favorites list when I got around to replaying it.

The thing I like about LTTP and a lot of games of that era is you can put in 10-20 hours and find just about everything in the game. Challenge but not stressful. Theres a reason I have replayed this and FF4 so many times.

And I always hold off on the thiefs Forrest in the dark world until later. Its annoying and coming back after level 4 makes it easier.

Yeah, he made the decision to play it on his own. He's been reading my Hyrule historia and Zelda encyclopedia. He couldn't get past the first dungeon in LoZ so he skipped to LttP.
