I had watched a lot of the xmen movies minus this, origins wolverine, dark phoenix and new mutants.

I enjoyed a lot of the fox-men movies and some I didnt. I figured this has decent reviews, stars wolverine and Ive never seen it so why not. This is generic hollywood blockbuster. Action isn't even good. Was there demand for a wolverine based samurai movie?

Tbh I think I really enjoyed shogun and I wanted to see Hanada play a samurai for the 4th time

If this was an MCU movie, it would rank close to the bottom of the 30+ movies

Im starting to think logan was a fluke as the other 2 mangold movies I have seen are this and the new indiana jones, neither of which are nearly as good as logan

Silver samurai was kind of cool and seeing the flashbacks of the nuke

Overall, there is nothing straight up bad...nor good. 5/10

I guess being meh gets you less attention. Its funny that I saw the movie in theaters, but had to bail out during the climax, cause I had an emergency...and never bothered to watch it again.

It should have been R like Logan.

It absolutely should have been a Yakuza ultraviolent Japanese film akin to Infernal Affairs mixed with Ichii the Killer. Instead what we got was a very tame and mild PG13 film that wasn't terrible, but okay.

That film is a watered down cash grab.

Wolverine deserves better, and any decent work that respects the source material needs to be hard-R mature content. The man has fucking knives on his hands for weapons and is a berserker with healing ability. You cant showcase that kind of raw power and healing with kiddo gloves.

when the previews pitched The Wolverine as him wanting to get rid of his powers, I skipped it without hesitation

the actual movie wasn't like that, but it also wasn't especially any good either

I think calling it mid is giving it way too much credit. barely qualifies as watchable

which does make it better than most fox fluff, but still

Logan is easily the best wolverine movie, get hyped.

Yeah wolverine power set does require an r rating. Deadpool and wolverine should deliver

Fox stuff is so hit or miss but when it hits, it hits hard

Also im convinced wolverine was probably in as many bad movies as good ones.

Wolverine movies got better after each movie. Its helps that Logan is literally adaption of goated Wolverine story line.

It wasn't bad but it wasn't particularly good either

I just rewatched it because it's had a bit of a defense renaissance after Logan. People insist you just need to watch the R rated director's cut. It's still really boring. The R cut just adds some digital squibs and claws to already neutered action scenes. The rest of the story and characters are boring. I played on my phone most of the time and didn't even finish it.
