Sort of. I mean, one kid tried for a long time. But he was kind of an idiot and his insults weren't funny. So everyone always called him out for it and it backfired every single time. He still did it for years, though. I never understood that guy. Like...why keep doing it when literally nobody is backing you up? By senior year of HS he had basically zero friends left and always just sat in the corner alone during lunches.

Frequently. I was a pretty meek person in high school and didn't really have any kind of physical advantage.

I took a beating or three. Never took a return swing, which confused the hell out of my school's zero-tolerance policies. (Hey, I didn't retaliate. It's not a fight. Suspend that dude, not me.)

Yeah, it sucked. They wised up around the third time. Guarantee the dude's parents did a better job of "retaliating" than I ever would have, especially when they got stuck with the bill for my glasses.

Didn't have to tell anyone. This happened in the middle of class - full of witnesses.

Dude took advantage of the substitute teacher's lack of attention to take issue with me grading their test. With their fists.

I think the teacher turned around after about the eighth or ninth punch to the face. Good job.

I was bullied in elementary school. I will never forget when like 4 kids tried to corner me outside of my aunt's home on the way back from school. I shouted for my aunt to come outside, and the kids ran off just from me calling her. My cousin was apparently watching through the window the whole time and proceeded to call me a "punk" and "pussy" for not standing up to them.

Going home from school (or to my aunt's when my mom had to work a double) was dreadful because that's when fights and bullying happened the most.

What upsets me about the bullying is how unsafe I felt even with adults or teachers around. A known bully made me take a test for him and we both got zeroes because the teacher obviously recognized my handwriting on both our tests. But that was it. No questioning from the teacher. No investigation. No care.

I was bullied constantly in middle school.

Its how I developed my sharp sarcastic wit and argumentative flair. I had to learn how to deal with being ganged up on by several people at once verbally. Couldn't do it physically.

didn't help i had a learning disability and i was overweight.

high school only had the problem in 9th grade but that was because i switched schools for one year.

edit: trying to switch into lower calorie drinks (sparkling water) for half of the beverages saves calories.

I was a weird loner who generally wasn't messed with except by the local sociopath who messed with -everybody- (who summarily flamed out of the general system in junior year as a result of it). Don't much care to think about how I went about things back then, would do it differently now, probably. Make more effort to socialize instead of daydream after blowing through the assigned work, I dunno.

It's always a little surreal to hear all these "yeah it was the best time/the worst time" kind of stories when my own experience can be summed up as "yeah I existed I guess. Kinda miss being a band kid"

Bullied is a fairly broad term, but Im usually more surprised (and doubtful) of people who werent. Kids are cruel, and will pick on anyone for anything.

Yes, I was, from first grade until the end. I did fight back once in fifth, but otherwise I was just a recipient.

Elementary school yes. Had a girl push me down and stand on me in the playground, sometimes girls would tease me and take things from me (like my pencils and erasers). I remember one girl was trying to be nasty and told me she didn't trust me around her test, but her plan backfired miraculously when she wrote over everything with pencil just to erase it all...

There was about a one month period in middle school where a group of kids would throw rocks at me as soon as I got off the bus.

Middle school and first two years of high school I hung out with a group of guys who treated me like shit and I don't know why I stuck with them. They always thought I was stupid, never laughed at my jokes, and I was often the butt of their jokes. Only now realizing maybe that's why I have some serious confidence issues.

I also had one off events happen in high school, like one time a kid pushed me onto the stairs for absolutely no reason. Or walking back from lunch a car gunned it into the wrong direction of traffic right towards me. Or another time walking back to school a girl threw a raw egg at my head.

I think that's about the majority of it. I regret not spending more time in middle school with positive influences and I ended up spending a fair amount of my time in high school as a loner, sometimes "visiting" and just watching different social groups at lunch if I was bored.

I remember there was a black girl who had a group of bullies. It was very sad and pathetic on her bullies' part. I went to a school of mostly white people in the south. I kinda got by maybe because I found a lot of friends who enjoyed the same nerdy hobbies as I did. But this black girl was bullied fucking fierce. The fucked up thing is that she was very attractive. She would easily be a popular girl in a more diverse school but I honestly think the girls that picked on her bullied her because they were racists pieces of shit.

They would pull her hair while she was in the hallway, call her "ducklips", etc. There were rumors that they SA'd her in the bathroom not too long after she left the school. Its one of my biggest regrets as an adult. Not sticking up for her.

Throughout middle school and the first two years of high school. I think my worst memory was when the bullying started. Up until third grade there was really no bullying. There was this one kid who was best friends with me in third grade--we were inseparable all year. We went to each others' houses almost every day, and we'd always say how we were best friends forever.

Then fourth grade started, and immediately things were different. We started separating into a social hierarchy and because of my big nerdy glasses and general awkwardness, I was with three or four kids at the bottom. One day when a bunch of kids were picking on me, and I went to my "best friend" hoping he would stick up for me, he literally was like "You're not my friend!" and joined them in picking on me, and one of those kids became his new best friend.

I know it was self preservation--he didn't want me to drag him down, so he attacked me to keep himself out of the "nerd" group. I understand it. But still... says a lot about loyalty. I feel sure I would never have done the same if the situation were reversed.
