The prep is annoying, but wasn't horrible. Yes, you're pooping pure liquid every 30 minutes, but for me it didn't come with the cramps and nausea that usually goes with diarrhea

The prep is awful, but the first thing you eat after the procedure is going to taste amazing. I ordered vietnamese food after my procedure and it was the best thing I have ever eaten in my life.

Hunger truly is the best spice. I recommend planning a door dash meal when you're done, or eat at your favorite restaurant if you're feeling up to it.

Which version of the prep are you doing? Is it the premixed stuff where you add water or is a powder that you mix with powerade and then drink a bottle of glycol later?

I had one done in February. While its mentioned the prep sucks, which it absolutely does, take the fasting part of it seriously to so you dont have to do it all over again.

I've done both versions, that one is probably the easiest. Just go ahead and move anything you want to do into the bathroom there because once you start you won't stop.

Enjoy the sweet Propofol nap during the procedure. There is no sleep in the world like it.

it's not gonna be hell. Colonoscopies are painless. You're gonna be sedated too.

The prep (liquid drinking) sucks, but it also feels good to empty out everything as well.

The prep is definitely the worst part. In my opinion, the fasting and the prep drink itself suck hard. The butt geyser isn't exactly fun, but it isn't generally awful unless you start getting irritated.

Scope itself isn't bad at all. Most painful part is getting the IV. If you're like the last two I had where the knockout drugs were fentanyl and versed, you'll be groggy for a few hours after.

I've been putting it off for a year now myself. I'm fine with the anesthesia, had it with my endoscopy. It was pleasant. I just dread the non-stop shitting tonight.

Family history of cancer means you start getting screenings and colonoscopy at age 35

I was diagnosed with chrons disease when I had my first one. I'm overdue for another mostly because I was so mad at the process of being diagnosed in the first place. Took a year and a half of "you're fine it will go away in a week or two" before a Dr took it seriously and actually ran tests and I was young and didn't know or care to advocate for myself.

Which solution did you get?

If you have the gallon I apologize for your doctor doing you dirty, Golytely tastes like someone put La Croix fruit flavoring in a jug of mucus.

I've had about ten of the procedures, first one I was 7.

So I have experience.

Did it come with its own measuring cup and whatnot?

I ask because the current best prep (in my opinion) is Clenpiq, which asks for two 8 ounce glasses of the mixture (powder and water), and it's honestly not bad to drink in terms of flavor and texture.

Gets disconcertingly hot when you're mixing it, though.

Sounds like you got it, then. It's the best I've ever used.

There was one running around about fifteen years ago that was a grand total dosage of three ounces, 1.5 at a time.

One of the worst things I've ever tasted and it got discontinued for causing kidney failure.

People really overstate the procedure. The prep isn't even as bad as people make it out to be. not a huge issue. My only snag was coming awake during my procedure and that really hurt until they knocked me back out. I also came away during an EGD procedure and that sucked until they knocked me back out. But all in all not bad.

As a two-time Cancer survivor I have them every 6 months. Tell them to go hard on the anesthesia from the start instead of increasing it as you feel pain...because you WILL feel pain.

Anyways...here's hoping they find nothing or just non-cancerous polyps.
