There's a lot of people who do exactly that. Though you'll want the headpiece to have a wide collar to tuck it under the shirt. No affordable places to eat nearby and you pretty much have to eat the expensive hotel/con center food, travel, or order. I always have to eat alone at cons, since I dont have much friends in the fandom. Most of the time, I never get a text about eating out and they went out with some popular fursuiter or other personality and their circle.
