Yeah this is the officially sanctioned way for other social boards to talk about politics.

I suspect eventually the CE regulars will get used to our topic being there and stop posting in it, but its mind-boggling the admins of this site thought that this actually makes anything better in anyway.

I don't think there was much thinking involved in this decision at all tbqh.

Are they trying to make things better?

Better optics for the kpi's that uninformed leadership prioritizes, which are not aligned with end user experience

I just hit topic list out of habit and wondered why there were suddenly so many dumb topics on the board.

I'm just going to keep that topic in a tab and not look at the rest of CE (for the most part).

Nah if they were sympathetic they'd have no-actioned it, either out of protest or by following the admin's "stringent definition of politics" that is only supposed to cover clear trolling and flaming.

For real, who is overseeing the moderators to make sure they are being true and faithful enforces of the new draconian principles? What is to stop them from just no actioning en masse?

I strongly suspect they don't want to do this because then they'd have to actually state clearly what is acceptable and what isn't, and be (somewhat) accountable to what they've written.

Mods definitely do not get paid. Lead mods theoretically could since I think some of them take on admin duties but practically speaking I doubt it.

So...there's no real recourse if a mod, or some mods, or all the mods, simply decided "nope, we're not enforcing this"

The problem is we aren't worth anything to fandom.

They do not care about us in the slightest.

If the boards revolted they would shut us down without blinking.

I don't know of any mods that were for the politics change. Many of us had the same questions and concerns you all do. But, yeah, I can imagine worse alternatives.

I havent been modded since back when it was delete, 3kl, warning(10kl if i recall?), suspend->purg/ban.

It seems less complicated now but maybe flexible in a way that is bad with fandom's current interference.

I had years of clean modding history, and then I posted a picture of Godzilla and Kong making out and it was all over for me

Oh man it's been so long since I've been modded I didn't even know 3KLs weren't a thing anymore.

But fine, I'll rescind the coward. No question though. I am aware of the rule, so the notification was unnecessary. I just vehemently disagree with the rule because it is a bad rule, and have no intentions of changing. Fandom took something that wasn't a problem and turned it into a huge problem, so this is one them.

Everything could be seen as political and they have made zero attempts to clarify what can't be posted, so I'm going to continue to post as normal.

And since I have no intention of ever posting on the cesspool that is CE, if I get warned along the way and lose access - oh well.

tl:dr: Fuck Fandom (but thank you for at least confirming the mod staff also agrees about Fuck Fandom)
