Like, if you take Max Payne and Resident Evil and smoosh them together you basically have a Die Hard game. Why doesn't this exist?

Isn't this just like, Resident evil 4 and 5.

I think people are thinking TC is referring to survival games mixed with action, but TC means survival horror games.

Yeah, like I specifically mentioned RE. Basically take that and swap out zombies for terrorists.

I don't think you really have a clear concept of what you're trying to describe, but also, there are tons of games that do this, that maybe you won't admit cuz it's not your exact idea.

Ah okay, I think I got it. You basically want a survival game where the enemies have guns? I've heard subsistence is good. The human enemies aren't terrorists, but they use handguns, rifles, bombs, etc.

No need to get confrontational. I know exactly what I'm describing. A fairly typical TPS but with the slower pace, inventory management, and reverse power fantasy of a survival horror game. Die Hard: The Game. I know the initial pitch was vague but I don't get why everyone is so confused.

I recall hearing about a game where a man loses control of a small plane and he crash-lands in a wintry forest without any way of signaling help. Can't recall the title, though.

People were calling it "survival horror", though its creator was calling it "survival adventure" and rejected the idea it was a horror game.

Maybe that be your speed? I otherwise have no idea.

A lot of milsim games are like this but the management is pretty much always limited to within the mission rather than stretched across the entire "campaign" so you generally wouldnt be stressed about resources too much.

That sounds like The Forest (bigger plane though). It's an amazing game, but I don't know if the enemies fit what TC is looking for. Stranded Deep also starts with a plane crash, but that starts on an island.

What? Tomb Raider is closer than everything else suggested!? You really need to elaborate then, because Resident Evil + Max Payne does not sound like Tomb Raider at all to me lol.

I played the first one and there was no survival elements? No need for shelter, maintaining body temperature, sleeping, eating etc.

Just play No Return with the infected turned off.

Yeah, looking at it it's really not too far off. Give that the RE2make treatment and take out the mystical elements and you're in the ballpark.

So honestly thinking you wanted a action heavy survival game seems natural.

Would the Deus Ex games sort of fit what youre talking about, outside of being 1st person?

I did, and it honestly didnt explain what you want clearly either imo.

The closest game I can think of to die hard would be maybe Metal Gear Solid series as you sneak around taking out bad guys with the resources you find on site.

For the final, and most clearly detailed time: I want a game which has the core gameplay loop of an action shooter such as Max Payne but with the umbrella mechanics of a survival horror game ie fewer enemies, limited ammunition, item management, and various ways to deal with enemies in order to conserve ammo. Take the RE2 remake and swap out the zombies for terrorists. Think Die Hard as a video game.

but horror is the magic ingredient for such games. They have shooting anyway often.

Also I think open world when hearing survival.

Pretty sure this is The Long Dark. From the little I know of it though, it isn't what TC's looking for. It goes hard on the survival aspect.

Metal Gear Solid still sounds like the most similar thing honestly. I mean you are up against terrorists, you can sneak around every enemy using vents, and other thing like boxes, or take them out in numerous ways including hand to hand combat, or knives, or cqc like stranginging, or weapons you steal, like bombs, guns, etc.

Other than that though I cant think of many others so yeah they definitely could make some more.

The long dark is sooo good. Despite the simple graphics, I really just got immersed and lost in the wilderness of the game. It really takes you away to the cold barren forests of North Canada.
