You don't have to be a sociopath like me in high school playing 12-16 hours a day sleeping every other day. Stick with it, don't be discouraged by knowing fuck all about music or theory, there are plenty of ways to learn to play that don't rely on it, the main thing is knowing what songs you want to play and finding a resource that will help you learn them. Tablature is a sort 'paint by numbers' approach to learning songs and you can find them at places like UltimateGuitar.com I've been playing Bass on and off for about 20ish years, I still know fuck all about music theory, but I can still jam to songs thanks to learning some tabs or just being familiar enough with the fretboard to be able to recognise what notes to play. --- And that blood is so real, because I just can't fake it. I have no explanation for this phenomenon. If it's a trumpet, they say trumpet. If it's a piano, they say piano. But if they say instrument, it's always a guitar. Anyway, sounds fun. I've tried out a guitar (acoustic) briefly a handful of times but the finger positions were way too uncomfortable for me. No doubt it gets easier with practice but it made me not wanna practice, lol. Ukulele was a little easier but ours is kinda crappy and the pegs won't hold. I did get a thrift store violin for Xmas about ten years ago, but it's missing pieces and needs rosin, and you can tell it was one of those cheapies from Amazon anyway, so I've been wanting to replace it. Maybe with a viola. Those are more my style, I think. I have managed to get an "evil hiss" out of it a time or two though. I was a killer euphonist in high school. Picked up trombone and trumpet as side instruments too. Learning by just tabs will hurt you in the long run if you want to learn theory. Guitar Pro is a nice middle ground because you can reference the tabs against actual sheet music. The feature that lets you play along with the song at slower tempos doesn't hurt either. --- I'm an artist at what I do. But I recently became obsessed with my buddy's Gibson Explorer, which he's letting me hold on to indefinitely until he finds a better apartment. I can't put it down. I also have his Gibson Les Paul and Firebird, both of which I'm not really into. Beautiful as they are, I don't like how it feels to play them. Particularly the Firebird, which seems to fight me.
