Seems like a big problem if this movie about conflict in American politics sources its footage from a known far right propagandist. Not only that, he has first billing ahead of the AP and Getty.

Was going to ask where Ngos name was until I clicked on the image itself and saw it right at the top where it would get cut off by Twitters weird embedding process when sharing on other websites.

Well, of course.

If they used trustworthy sources they'd have a hard time making MAGAt propaganda.

I'd be bored to tears watching a movie about the Civil War regardless, but seeing a blue checkmark whine about "woke" makes me extra glad I'm not spending money on that movie.

I haven't watched the movie yet, but I'm in a very good community of film watchers and none of them ever said anything about this movie being a right wing propaganda type of movie. It really just sounded like Andy Ngo either sold and/or they got permission to use some of the footages he took for the movie when they do the typical "news cast stories" to show the current state of the world.

People making major motion pictures should check if they're sourcing from (and thus platforming) blatant propagandists, yeah. There may not have been any malice involved, but the fact they used this guy and it didn't raise any red flags while making the movie is a bad sign. Even if his footage is used in a way that criticizes people like him, that could've been accomplished without using from him and thus giving him a shoutout in a big movie's credits.

Like, the whole problem with Andy Ngo is he tries to portray the world in a way that it isn't actually like. There's no giant woke school pedo ring facility and Manhattan is not occupied by Hamas, but those are the kinds of headlines he pushes with his footage. Andy Ngo isn't a "perspective", he's fake news.

I dont follow Twitter or any of the places these people post and wouldnt know who any of them are without gamefaqs topics always pointing stuff like this out. Ill still eventually watch the movie for pure entertainment purposes like I always do. If they happen to be connected to the movie in some way it wont impact me.

This kind of outrage fucking annoys me.

From what I hear it's a "both sides" movie that tries not to upset anyone.

From what I've heard of the movie it has really little to say of the current political landscape which is probably the most cowardly movie to make rn. I'll probably watch it if I can catch it for free. Men sucked but I loved all of Garland's other films.

Ehhhh no, it's pinnacle "both sides" commentary about the climate of politics in America. It panders a fair bit to the right & there's characters that say word for word what the GOP does right now, but you can find left leaning ideology or thought commentary in it too.

Doubt Alex Garland, a guy who wrote a movie about how men are evil, is somehow a right wing propagandist.

Either way, it's concerning they're using him instead of a far more reputable guerilla documentary team. I mean Vice is right there and they existed before this film's production ended.

I didn't really know anything about Alex Garland, but that quote does not make a good first impression. The people that have made left vs. right into good vs. bad are the people that use "politics" as a shield for truly repugnant views, not the people that noticed and call them out.

Alex Garland is liberal. My guess is that he wants to make a more universal movie and hope someone pays attention vs just preaching to us liberals who already agree.

Yeah sorry, I was going off of what people were saying about it being a "both sides" movie. If it's trying to convince people to listen to each other in a way I mean that's an admirable goal too, but I don't know how it could pull it off without just being taken as a centrist circle-jerk.

Yeah, I agree. Which is why I said I am going in with an open mind earlier. But I have liked his work in the past so I am hopeful.
