I've done this style of poll contest once before, back in either Gen VII or Gen VIII, so why not try it again now? The rules are simple: each day, I'm going to post a poll for a given Pokemon typing, with each generation's roster of new Pokemon filling in that typing. You just need to look at what each generation had to offer, and select which generation you think brought the best new roster (for any reason; you could say that a single Pokemon was so good that it overwhelms everything else the generation spawned, or you could select a generation that may be more well-rounded that the one that created your personal favorite). At the end of the day, one generation will be crowned a champion (with potential tiebreakers if need be), and that generation will advance to a second round, where the eighteen winners, and fourteen strongest runner-ups will be sorted into a 32-entrant tournament to crown which generation produced the best overall roster of a single typing.

Yesterday's results started out close, but then it seems that a lot of what drew people's votes towards Gen VI were Mega Evolutions of Pokemon already beloved in Gen III. The end result was more than a doubling, as Gen VI becomes the first second-placer to not break twenty percent of the vote.

For today's contest, we're doing Electric-types. This typing has been one of the most unchanging over the years, seeming to stick with a lot of monotypes instead of pairing up to create new type combos. It's also typically the home typing of the franchise's original mascot, and all those clones that came afterwards. Given Gen VI's limited roster, I have folder Mega Evolutions into their list, as those were, effectively, some of the new Pokemon created in lieu of brand new designs for Gen VI. I'll keep the same concept for later typings as well. Note: I will not be considering things like Dialga/Palkia's form changes in Gen VIII, as those are still technically the same in the way Giratina's form change was back in Gen IV.

Bug: Gen V (44.12%)
Dragon Gen III (41.67%)
Dark: Gen II (26.87%)

Yikes Gen III.

Voted for Gen V, I love Emolga (used one on my in-game team) and Joltik (so cute). Zebstrika and Galvantula are cool too. Stunfisk is...unique.

Alright, let's look at this group:

Definitely not Gen III...lame Pika-clones, and I don't care for Manectric's design.

Not Gen VI. Already talked about Manectric's design being bad, but with such a small roster, Dedenne carries too much weight.

Not Gen VIII. There's almost nothing great here except for Toxtricity.

Not Gen V. The legendaries, Stunfisk, and the Eelektrik NFEs kill it.

Not Gen IX. Bellibolt's line, the pointlessness of Pawmi/Pawmo, and Sandy Shocks bring it down.

Not Gen IV. Shinx/Luxio/Pachirisu weigh it down too much.

Not Gen VII. The Geodude line could've been much better, and Togedemaru is disappointing.

Ultimately, it comes down to Gen I having a perfect roster, while Raikou is awful (plus Flaaffy is disappointing.)

2 gets my vote this time, but I also really like 5 and it'll probably win.

I'm torn already, since all my favorite electric types are stuck in gens where I hate the rest of its compatriots, and I dont want to be a genwunner but it's almost all solid - nor do I want to discount gen 9 from inexperience. Tagging for later review.

It would have been Gen VII if not for the A-Geodude line.

Gen II.

Gen 1 wins this one pretty handily. Gen 2 a solid runner up. Nothing else is even remotely close

gen 4 closely followed by 5

gen 1 does have my favourite in Jolteon, but that, Raichu, and Magneton can't save the entire gen for me. Gen 7 also has a favourite (Vikavolt) but also a lot of Pokemon I think are alright but not stellar.

Very hard decision actually. Anything but gen 3 is a reasonable choice imo
edit: also gen 6 is weak

Opted for gen 1. I like most of gen 5 (especially Stunfisk!) but I cant stand the lamprey eel line, and as cute as the Zebstrika line is, they suck.

Won't be able to get to this until after 9, so I guess the round will be going a little longer.
