To be fair they have retitled it the SKYWALKER saga.

Star Wars is an entire universe. Obviously the Skywalkers weren't going to be the center of it for forever.

Oh, I would hate that. I would hate that.

I've never seen a Fast and Furious movie and I would feel honor-bound to go back and watch all of them just to have the complete Jurassic Park experience. On the plus side, it would be neat to see drag racers trying to outrun dinosaurs... in a stupid kinda way. I mean, let's be honest. The ship's already sailed with that one. Anything in the current Jurassic Park/Jurassic World universe is gonna be somewhat campy.

How would that even work? I've only seen the first FF and don't see how the two franchises could tie together. How about JP vs Predator.

The later movies go insane. They do crazy shit like parachuting cars out of a plane or in movie 9 I think, a car uses a grappling hook to swing across a chasm. Modern Fast and Furious movies are closer to the MCU than the first few movies were

You could *almost* tie the original Jurassic Park trilogy to Fast and Furious. The general public learns about the existence of dinosaurs in 1997, but most of the action remains on the islands. There's a lot going on in the world today, but you don't have to mention it all the time. Once you have the events of Fallen Kingdom, it's kind of hard to imagine that life could go on without the dinosaurs being mentioned.

It's like the difference between there being a war in a foreign nation, and none of your friends mentioned it this week, vs being in an active warzone and nobody mentioning the elephant in the room.

Only TPM had the biggest leap in quality from VHS/DVD >> bluray and the other 2 prequels look great too. It's the OT that's kinda ehhh mostly because of the first movie getting another a 2nd coat of overpaint that looks and sounds more jarring than it did back in 97.

I mean you kinda reflect on it now in 2024 after seeing all these other remasters of old movies and feel like they really screwed the pooch again but that instance it's technical things (oversaturation, overcontrasting, weird sound mixing, etc). But again, least the prequels were upgraded well otherwise

Lucas sold Star Wars. He has no control of it now. He can say the Disney stuff isn't canon but nobody will listen to him

BTW I don't know how well known this is, but there is also a whole series of Marvel star wars comics now that fill in gaps in between movies and are canon. The first set of them took place in between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. They finally finished that, and now they are doing stuff in between Empire and Return of the Jedi.

Wrong.
He intended to make a sequel and hired somebody to write a lowbudget sequel before the first movie even was released, in case it flopped.
Luke and Leia was shot down by Vader and crashed on a foggy planet, where he would hunt them.
Since this was pre-sibling, they would be lovers.
But the movie was a success so the lowbudget script turned into a book.

Wait a second... Lucas has been known to use "historical revision" for Star Wars... what he said happened does not always match what happened. But *that* sequel was a "Plan B." He plainly said in a 1980 interview what his "Plan A" was from the start [beginning in winter, 1973].

LUCAS: "Star Wars was originally titled 'Episode Four: A New Hope.' I felt people wouldn't take it seriously if it looked too much like a serial, so 'Star Wars' is the beginning of a movie trilogy."

In 1999, Gary Kurtz, the producer for the first two films, talked about the darker *original* story plan for all nine films before the screenplays were rewritten with character family connections.
