Wait a second... Lucas has been known to use "historical revision" for Star Wars... what he said happened does not always match what happened. But *that* sequel was a "Plan B." He plainly said in a 1980 interview what his "Plan A" was from the start [beginning in winter, 1973].

LUCAS: "Star Wars was originally titled 'Episode Four: A New Hope.' I felt people wouldn't take it seriously if it looked too much like a serial, so 'Star Wars' is the beginning of a movie trilogy."

In 1999, Gary Kurtz, the producer for the first two films, talked about the darker *original* story plan for all nine films before the screenplays were rewritten with character family connections.
