My opinion is this. We on the left, the Bernie Sanders wing of the party, have had it really good. But a LOT of people on the ONLINE left have been "knives out" for Joe Biden ever since he (HONESTLY, LEGITIMATELY) beat Bernie in the 2020 primary. I see this every day here with how reluctant people are to express any fondness or excitement over Biden's 2024 campaign, it's a "hold your nose & vote for Biden" thing which is really bad.

I think the "Genocide Joe" stuff is dumb and self defeating. As someone who REALLY REALLY wants to push the Democratic party further to the left, I'm BEGGING you to stop with it for these reasons:

1. It doesn't actually hurt Israel's genocide or help Palestinians. All it really does is make you feel good and self righteous about yourself, and signal to other leftists/anti-Zionists that you're part of the clique..

2. It actually hurts Palestinians and leftist causes by making Joe Biden less popular, which increases the odds of Trump getting elected. THIS IS REALLY BAD LIKE THE WORST THING POSSIBLE!!!

3. It makes Biden and the party see us as bad allies, and bad allies deserve less of a seat at the table. If the Democratic party sees leftists as bad allies, they're less likely to cater to us with earnest attempts at M4A, pro-Palestine policy, higher taxes on the rich, etc. In other words when you call him "Genocide Joe" we're biting the hand that feeds us and pushing him to the RIGHT, towards courting Nikki Haley voters.....

We should be firmly in support of Palestinian rights and statehood but we should be a lot smarter about the signals we send. Also we should be more enthusiastic and supportive of Biden in general to make it clear we're reliable allies whose causes are worth fighting for!

I think it's important to keep things in context, I don't mind the implications that we are funding a genocide in Gaza, because facts are more important when it comes to the lives of civilians being killed and starved out of their homes.

But it's important to maintain perspective and context - and that republicans will be worse. They are not just open Zionists, they also hate arabs and muslims, and they are enthusiastic supporters of apartheid generally.

Calling out support for a genocide is not a self-righteous thing to do. It's just calling out support for a genocide.

Yes you should still vote for Biden because Trump is much worse. But if you think Biden should be immune from criticism, then it sounds like you have a very Trumpian mindset.

And in that case, you should also be anti Hamas. If you are going to say all the things you are for and against like it needs clarifying, then surely that one does as well, given how this current round of fighting got started.

Besides, calling him Genocide Joe is disingenuous. Hes not the reason why 1.5 million people are displaced, and over a hundred people on the other side were kidnapped, not to mention the thousand or so that were murdered on October 7th. Theres a lot of blame to go around, and go pin
