I basically never buy new games / games not on a huge discount. Last one was BG3 and before that I cant even remember it was so long ago.

How much of 1 do I have to play to have any clue what is going on in 2? Or just skip and wait for 2?

I see some guy is doing a 4k remaster of 1 so I kind of want to wait for that to play it.

From the looks of the trailer I would say none, but play Dark Arisen anyways since its on sale on steam for less than $5 and the game isn't that long unless you choose to do things like explore and take on quests.

Already have it and started playing. I just dont really want to rush through it or burn myself out on it before the new one. I also want to spend the time to properly mod it before playing.

Dark Arisen is very awesome. The combat is top notch its just traveling is a slog especially with the limited stamina outside of combat and some annoying enemy mobs.

Literally just pre-orderd mine this afternoon. Kan't wait, man. Really intrigued by Theif, it's advancement, and hybrids. Also really wondering if there's only 4 basic vocations, since the Trickster symbol appears to be two things not already seen.

Yes, but I do not think I am far enough yet to have my pawn rented. I have no clue how that process works.

Pretty sure it's as soon as you get your pawn.

Basically it works like this, you rest at an Inn and the game will update your pawn's gear and stats to the server for people to rent and also retrieve any items gifted to you when your pawn has been dismissed or KIA. They'll also rate your pawn (three stars across the board means they were KIA.)

If you're friends with people that play DDDA you can summon their pawns for free btw even if they're level infinity (level 200.)

I played some more of 1. Game is fun as hell. That cyclops outside the start area they held down and I basically just kept stabbing him in the ass until death lol.

I got a CEmen lookin crew of pawns right now.

Your odds of a rent aren't great, can't be much of a player base left.

Best bet would be to visit the game board and see if anyone is still active.

You might be surprised. Probably a lot of people dusting off their digital copies to play DD1 the next couple weeks before the new one comes out. Also if you're on pc, it's $4.79 on steam so there's probably a ton of new players right now.

In any case you don't need your pawn to be rented, I've played many times during low player count periods and never had any issue. There's still lots of good pawns that you can rent, and your own pawn will level up well as you play the game. Yes they can get some extra skills from being rented, and the extra RC is nice, but totally not necessary. You still get lots of RC just from playing BBI.
