So apparently because the work gap on my C.V is big I'm not good enough to get paid work but I am to work voluntary. I know that is sound logic when I'll have to go through a interview process and perhaps be employed regardless but I digress. The very thought of working for free doesn't work well for me but I'm curious of others experiences.

Ive done a fair bit of volunteer work, but it was never done to further my prospects for paid work. It probably has on occasion though.

I've done unpaid work for a charity, but to be honest that wasn't exactly volunteer work: I was serving a community sentence. I probably won't include it on my CV.

I was help staff on FurryMUCK, one of the oldest MU* games still in existence. Technically I'm still on the help staff, but I don't log in nearly as often as I used to, and there aren't as many players as there used to be. I guess TS doesn't have the appeal it once had.

My work gives me two "volunteer" days every year. Some people spend one on a "Day of caring" with the big local charity. I usually use it spending a day at the soup kitchen for the nearby shelter, or helping an elderly person clean their house. I would volunteer at an animal shelter, but that is the "default" for a lot of people so they end up having way more volunteers then work for them to do.

Yeah; a few times with the Boy Scouts that I can immediately remember: Picked up litter along a highway once, and participated in food drives for a couple of years.

I used to volunteer at a local charity regularly. It was a really good experience and comes with a lot less pressure than a conventional job, so I enjoyed it.

Here in Ontario you have to do 40 hours of community service to graduate high-school. I volunteered st a retirement home, just chatted with residents and called bingo every so often. It was okay.

Yes. Trash clean up both with my old girlscout troop and on my own every earth day. I used to work as a groom for Ride n Shine stables, it's an equine therapy program for the disabled. I've volunteered a few times at my grandma's homeless feeding charity, but the pastor is a massive piece of shit as well as a creep, and I couldn't stand him for long.

I've volunteered at a wildlife rehab for what'll be 6 years this June. Volunteering is great if you have the time to do it because it gives you experience and helps you network - if you're interested in doing anything like what you're volunteering for as a job, anyway. It's good for my mental and physical health, too.

I use to volunteer a lot when I was younger. And even more during my early years in the Air Force. I also remember getting a certain number of volunteer hours was needed to graduate school, and I need hours for the Air Force, as well Though, I still do like to volunteer when I can
