You know the deal: You see an ad for a mobile game, and the player is doing downright terrible, making mistakes that even a 5-year-old wouldn't make. Sometimes, the ad even challenges you to do better.

Have you ever downloaded one of these games just to show that you could indeed do better than the display game (or "game") footage?

Closest I got was attempting a shot in one of those 'sniper challenge' game ads, whereupon I quickly discovered that the ad scripted a 'near miss' regardless of what you actually did. There's no point in believing those ads.

No since i automatically hate that game based on the ad.

But the ad actually works.
Those who are stupid enough to fall for that ad tends to be also stupid enough to pay for in app purchases.

The ad is a filter, they don't want people smart enough to play their game for free.

Nah I don't like playing mobile games that much tho. Plus the ads are often misleading on what the actual game will look and play like

I never fell for the dumb play routine, but sometimes the game still looked cool

No. I have self control and know how advertising tries to be manipulative.

No, but I've fallen for the BS where an ad pretends to be playable to get you to touch it so it can claim that as permission to go to the download page on Google Play. So I just assume all "playable" ads are scams now.

Not that it matters, nowadays the close buttons are like one pixel and if you're a micrometer off it's straight to the Play store with you

You'd have to be dumber than the person "playing" in the ad, to fall for the ad.

Yes... Stormshot: Isle of Adventure

The ads show simple levels where you have to ricochet a bullet to kill an enemy. It actually looked kind of fun. I actually enjoyed it a lot. BUT... it was also one of those dumb Clash of Clans clones where you're supposed to build an alliance with other players and drop a million dollars to build your army to attack the enemy so you can... get more resources to build a bigger army? It was really, really, REALLY minimalist and repetitive and I don't understand how people get into those.

But oh yeah, a lot of lying ass ads though. 99 percent to 100% of the game has nothing to do with the fake game play in the ad.

Thankfully, even with my whole body was cringing in pain, from stomach up to the brain, I was always able to resist them.

But I'm every time pissed when I try to hit that pixel of an close button, and it opens because I'm off by another pixel.

I have nothing against F2P side games using ad revenue as their business, but fuck the games using such scam ads.

On another note, I have to admit that if I see an add that at least tries to show some kind of gameplay without the provoking 5 IQ bait, it may be enough to bait me.
