Ongoing spoilers as I watch through the anime for the first time. Currently almost done with Whole Cake.

Gonna try to finish Whole Cake tonight actually. Overall been really enjoying this arc, although I get what people were saying last topic about Big Mom not shutting the fuck up about "Wedding Cake!!!!"

Apart from that though, this arc has been really fucking solid. Even if she's becoming a little annoying, Big Mom is one of if not the scariest bad guy they've faced yet. This arc has been exciting since the Straw Hats keep taking L after L, way more than in past arcs. That said, pretty much everyone has gotten at least a couple badass moments, even Sanji. Sanji is still my least favorite Star Hat by a thousand miles, but even he got a chance to shine even in my book this arc. Worried he fully reverts back to his regular garbage trope after this though.

So glad Jimbei is finally officially a Star Hat, fucking took him long enough. I was kinda wondering what role he would actually serve on the ship, and helmsman is not what I was expecting but I love it. He's already gotten a chance to show off his skills, and he's such a good presence, love that he's all in now.

Luffy vs. Katakuri is probably a top tier fight in the series for me, Katakuri is a great antagonist, it's been a lot of fun seeing his perspective of Luffy gradually 180 over the course of the battle.

That said, much as I am genuinely enjoying this arc, kinda ready to finish it. I miss Zoro, Robin, and everyone else. Excited to see the grander consequences of the Whole Cake events on the world too, I imagine it's gonna majorly shake some things up politically.

What episode are you on? I'm on one where something interesting happened with Carrot just now.

I got a little sad when the arcs started to get so long that you could go through 80 episode stretches without seeing half of the straw hat crew.

Yeah... Like, Dressrosa and Whole Cake have both been really good arcs, and I get that Oda probably split them up to spend some more time highlighting individual crewmembers a little more, but I do miss the whole gang being together.

My main issue with Katakuri is that while he's a pretty good character, he literally just comes out of nowhere at the end of the arc to give Luffy a 1v1 that isn't against Big Mom. All we got prior to his introduction was a brief name drop.

I couldn't feel satisfied with Luffy vs. Katakuri being the climax of the arc because there was no set up to the character at all. They really should have introduced him earlier.

He was in the whole wedding part way back in the middle tho?

Yeah, I was fully expecting Luffy to fight Big Mom at the end, and it was several episodes into the Katakuri fight before I even realized he was the "final boss" of the arc.

It's one of the best fights in the series, but he wasn't that relevant in the grand scheme of things.

Thing is, it's not really the climax of the arc, Sanji baking the cake is. Luffy vs Katakuri is more of a pseudo training arc to prepare Luffy for Wano

Whole Cake is a stellar arc. Having Sanji not be the worst character in the series for an arc was nice as well.

I actually really liked it. Was a good reversal for Sanji, and I ended up kind of actually liking Pudding.

Its just a shame cause I sincerely doubt any of that character growth is gonna stick with Sanji, but I guess well see.

The Revirie episodes were interesting, lots of teases, theres gonna be some crazy shit once were fully there.

Im officially in Wano now.Absolutely loving the art style and vibe of this arc. I think Ill enjoy this one a lot.

Already makes me wanna go back and watch more old school samurai movies.

Also glad I made a topic title about missing Zoro and immediately get him back lol.

Already getting himself into trouble immediately. God I love Zoro.

Oh shit, yeah, that was interesting. Curious what his deal is, the fact that hes implied to be the true ruler of the world behind the scenes.

Between that and a random giant Straw Hat statue in his basement, theres some crazy shit building up.

I genuinely have no idea what the deal is with the giant hat. It's so weird.

So far I'm enjoying it, but I'm still pretty early. Luffy just annihilated the Sumo wrestler, now Holdem is confronting him.

A little odd that even though the whole crew is back on the same island again, they've spent virtually all the time so far on just Luffy and Zoro.

they are driving the plot, but the rest will get their time to shine. another great sanji arc! chopper has a good moment, jinbe does jinbe things, but no one else really carries. i think it might trend that way rest of the story.

I am excited for Jimbe to finally get to Wano. They've really enjoyed playing with my feelings and teasing him being a crew member for so fucking long.

He can just do anything with straw. He can make straw out of thin air, hide it inside of him, turn it into weapons, or make it into voodoo dolls.

The tarot cards have nothing to do with it. That's just something else he does unrelated to the devil fruit.

Man, he's a fucking wild character lol. Glad he's finally getting some screentime tho. It's crazy how many of the worst generation haven't really gotten thatmuch olot relevance so far. Slowly fixng that tho

Zoro was pretty disappointing all the way until Wano tbh when oda finally decided to give him decent opponents to fight.

Seriously I cant recall him doing anything cool until then post time skip.

Same goes for everyone actually, while cake was pretty disappointing to me and really pushed the straw hats plot armor to its limit. And Lucys terrible final battle there didnt help either.
