Probably a place like Virginia. Both cities and rural areas, decent climate that doesn't get too cold or hot, nice variety of terrain and geography, cost of living isn't out of control for most of the state, some coastline, cultural and historical significance to the country. Not super low on any of the usual state metrics.

Generally politically neutral but that does seem to be going in the wrong direction lately.

Single, live alone, truck driver, also gets 100% disability from the VA..I have the option to go wherever ( been doing so the past couple of years) but to me Im happy here in Sacramento, Im not gonna pay a couple of hundred less to live elsewhere knowing full well Im not happy.

More than enough places for visiting.
Decent COL(depending on where you live)
Ample areas for jobs(Charlotte,Atlanta.Raleigh.etc.)
Not at the bottom for Education.
