i agree as well. jim had to try to be funny and failed, the rest of the people were just funny.

Jim and Pam weren't meant to be funny. They were meant to provide some drama and heart to the show, and also act as the straight-man to all of the clowns on the show. Same thing as the Jim/Pam on the original British version of the office.

Nellie and Andy are the worst.

I mean, the dude did lock his coworkers inside and then set the room on fire. For all of Jim's failings, he's never almost killed himself and his coworkers because he's an obnoxious asshole.

An obnoxious asshole as well, don't get me wrong, I just don't remember his pranking hurting nearly as many people as Dwight almost did.

At the very least Jim is morally superior to Dwight in this regard, even if he's not as comical.

Btw, that was one of my favorites scenes, but that was still a very fucked up thing to do and he was lightly punished considering what it was. In reality he'd lose more than his promotion, he'd be in jail.

Then he throws a cigarette into a trash can, a fire visibly starts, and nobody is seen putting it out.

Stanley had a heart attack as a result of the false drill.

I get why people dislike Jim, however Dwight is the kind of asshole who I thought deserved the pranks out of everybody in the office.

Jim and Pam are the counterweight to the absurdity.

Jim and Pam did turn out to be kinda dicks after all.

Hateing the straight man for not being funny in a komedy is like hating the narrator for not having a visible role in the plot.

Weird, in my head he put a smoke bomb in a trash can or something to simulate smoke or something. Don't know why I never really pieced it together. I mean he definitely should have been fired if that's the case.
