I cant imagine wanting a salaried position unless it was one of those things where I could power through my work and be able to leave early.

But somehow I get the feeling that it would be the opposite

i'm salary. i open my laptop at 9:00, make breakfast until 9:15, eat until 9:45, then drive into the office, when i finally sit down at my desk around 10:15. i take a ~20m break for lunch and leave promptly at 5 every day.

As a mobile developer, salaried is absolutely better than hourly. Sure, I occasionally had to work outside of normal business hours, but it was more than made up for by the hours that I didn't really have to work, because I was waiting for responses from QA, or whatever. Much better than hourly, which doesn't have paid holidays, and so on.

I'm hourly and get paid holidays

Edit: Do you mean hourly in your field by chance?
