They are not a poor country, and we have a lot of poor people here. So even outside of the "war" going on. Why do we keep giving them money.

Also, they are an American ally when many other countries in the region either aren't or are hostile.

Agreed, we shouldn't give them money. They were once a poor country, but they are now a rich country with the ability to increase their weapons infrastructure. There's little reason for us to fund 15% of their military budget.

This part doesn't matter. One, the amount we give in foreign aid would not impact any of our domestic welfare needs.
Two, if we had no poor people, would it somehow then be more alright to give Israel money?

They're not hostile to USA, therefore they provide USA a foothold in the region to stir up armed conflict. The relationship is one of mutual war-profiteering and economic imperialism. Any moral reasons that could possibly be attributed to the relationship are a farce.

There are other footholds we could use in the region aside from Isreal so I dont really buy that excuse.

And while they are an ally, they arent who most Americans would consider a close ally. As in someone we could rely on for aid in any capacity.

Nor are they much for trade purposes either. It really is a one sided relationship no matter how you look at it.
