long lasting meaning, if i take it slow yet its highly effective. walked to the nearby store yesterday and they might not carry the beer i like, natty daddy's anymore which i liked for high potency, and due to the store being bought out. so might have to try for some harder liquor if i take an easy on it. i instead bought some lower percent type and it was meh, had the last 4 from last night this morning and craving although knowing they don't have the beer i like possibly anymore. i'm not familiar with hard liquors as much, besides i believe my mom getting a bottle of vodka from them for $10-$12. i might just need to go that route if i can make it last.

Based on your criteria for 'potency' and the fact that you specifically used the word "craving" in your post, it seems initially like you may be headed to/in the early stages of alcoholism.

This isn't the response you were looking for, but it may be the one you need: The easiest time to slow down and quit, is now. It only gets more difficult from here on out.

I'm not telling you what to do, only what I know and what I've seen. Good luck, friend.

If you need to consider alcohol in terms of how long it'll last and how cost-efficient it is, you're drinking too much. Full stop.

Idk you can pretty much pick up some nasty $10 liquor for pretty cheap, you can just look at the percentage.

But in doing the math to find the cheapest possible alcohol, I've found that the absolute cheapest way is to ferment my own sugar water kool-aid mix, basically free. It starts with a decent investment though, and how much do you really want to invest in your drinking problem? In my case the answer was ~$95 for 3 kits and all needed supplies. But hey, I'll never buy booze again.

I would stay away from liquor in general tbh, at least with beer there's a limit to how much you can drink before you're too full. With liquor you can just keep going and going all day long. It's not good for your brain and it could ramp up your habit. Or at the very least hold off until nighttime.

If I'd give you another serious answer I usually go for the 5 liter box wine for $20, and I don't think it gets much cheaper than that. If you're an alcoholic, you might as well not be a poor alcoholic.

If you're serious about quitting just measure out what you drink every day and reduce it very slowly over a couple months.

But the most correct answer is to simply breathe into a distillation flask all day long and catch all the alcohol you drink as condensation. Take apart a refrigerator you find at the dump and operate the compressor with a hand pump to keep it cool.

You can make up the calories by eating peanut butter all day long.

Please listen to this post. You're in the early stages you can still get out before it becomes an actual problem. So many people don't take this opportunity and it ruins their lives. And their livers too.

this reads like you're going to try and drink that whole bottle

don't

vodka is not natural light beer, there's more alcohol in a 5th of vodka than an entire case of natty

@ConfusedTorchic

yeah... i need to stop. i drank a good amount of it throughout the day. i'm still somewhat functional, i just want a game that will agree with me. i also suffer through bipolar 2 disorder, and i am desperate to trigger hypomania due to how depressed i am. i haven't had a good episode since the summer. i've had minor triggers a couple of times since that lasted maybe a couple of days. i guess my meds do better at triggering hypomania not to occur, over the depressive episodes i guess. i am thankful for your post.

It's not a easy road. Nobody can convince you to stop slow down or what have you. You must want to do it.

I've been fighting this battle awhile.

Rehab didn't do shit for me. I've been having better luck doing a gradual process. 1 day without 2 days without a week without etc. But that takes some willpower.

I was bad off. Somewhere between 20-30 shots of whiskey a day for about 3 years.

Don't go down this path. Drinking every once in awhile is fine but do it too much and you'll find yourself drinking more and more. Tolerance always increasing.

I would suggest rehab if it's bad though. It's a controlled environment. They ain't gonna let you die from the withdrawals and it will atleast show you that you can go without.

OP, I have been a very heavy drinker since I turned 21. I was exactly like you, buying the most "cost efficient" drinks. At first I deluded myself because I was buying craft beer like Dogfish 90 Minute IPA. Every thing was totally fine and functional until I hit my 30s.

I'm going to tell you, OP, what I went through during my recent relapse. It was about a 9 day bender where I essentially did nothing but sleep, wake up, drive to the store to buy enough alcohol that I would not have to drive later (the last day of drinking during this relapse was six cans of Four Loko nursed over a day). I had zero appetite after day two and barely consumed ANY food. I had to call my parents to tell them that I messed up again and that I was going to spend the day getting myself together and asked if it was okay to come over.

When I got to my parents with some Thiamine, high quality multivitamins, and a shit load of pedialyte, I was shaking uncontrollably, I was unable to sit still, I was having hot and cold flashes. On day two, I started seeing things out of the corners of my eyes, like little wisps in the air. I kept compulsively either looking around or my eyes would dart around. That night, I had managed to sleep, but I had such an INTENSE vivid nightmare that I started screaming in my sleep and whenever I woke up, I saw a shadow figure of a man wearing a top hat. I have not stepped foot in that room since that incident.

Day three I started hearing things. I kept hearing the song "The Dripping Tap" by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard coming through the air purifier. I kept hearing my parents say my name, even though they didn't say anything. I started realizing these weren't real. At night when I was trying to sleep, I kept hearing a voice mocking me that I couldn't sleep, and it kept telling me things like "you think you're going to fall asleep in that position?" and it would just say things that there is no possible way anybody could see that I was doing. It was absolute terror and I don't think I have ever been as scared as I have in my life.

Day four started to get better. I was able to get up and exercise and I went back home. I didn't have any hallucinations during the day or at night.

aaaaand here I am on Day five.

Wish me luck this time guys :( Maybe giving rehab another shot will get this through my head. What I've been doing lately is just watching HORROR videos regarding alcohol. There are two that I'm going to watch every morning that hit me HARD. The one is a british guy PLEADING his seizing friend to wake up as he holds his chin down, which just reminds me of the time my parents found me unconscious, and the other is a HORRIFYING story of Delirium Tremens.

If you want to be absolutely terrified. Watch this from this timestamp. Just a heads up, there is confusion with the definition of "Delirium Tremens." A lot of people online think that what I went through above is Delirium Tremens, when it's really just alcoholic hallucinosis. Delirium Tremens is when you cannot distinguish the delusions from reality and they take hold of ALL of your senses. Like, you can touch these hallucinations, you can feel them touch your skin, it's apparent absolute terror. Listen to the little section in this guys video after the timestamp titled "The Fear" as well as the worst hallucination part

Get Everclear or some thing similar. The gas station near me sells a bottle that's like 158 proof (79% alcohol) with a picture of a semi truck on it. I imagine it also tastes like a semi truck.

The idea is to drink the nastiest thing you can find, wake up feeling like you're dying, and use that experience to quit drinking. Make sure you don't finish the bottle! If you get the urge to drink again, take a deep whiff of it to remind yourself how sick it made you.

you sound like you have an alcohol problem so if you are anything like i was and don't care about the taste you should just buy plastic tumblers of prestige vodka. they're like $8-10 for 750ml and that should last you one to two binges.

Also, talk to your therapist about your self-medication with alcohol. That's something they should absolutely know about (if nothing else, many psychiatric medications can have some very harmful interactions with alcohol and your drinking habits will therefore affect what you can be safely prescribed), and they can likely help you find better coping mechanisms and work yourself off of being so dependent on it.
