Mafia is a mind game. If you can't handle a little bit of that, you have no business playing in the first place.

Eh, I do not seem to have lost any of my ability by simply not insulting people. i do agree, plenty of people use that sort of tactic. Its not that any one person is incapable of handling it, but it's not a rite of passage to be able to withstand insults.

I also think it hits different if you know someone prior to playing with them vs being a relative stranger. I will, for instance, insult my good friend litten all the time but it is understood that I adore him.

I called someone that I've known for years dumb and got a warning for it.

There is a missing post in a conversation about insults I'm sure there are a lot of pots calling out kettles here

Well fair, but I think a lot of comments towards that one newer person were pretty mean spirited tbh.

It's everyone's choice to play there or not so fair, and if you think the environment isn't for you I understand but i really like playing there precisely because people don't feel the need to insult a lot.

Yep, when that flip took that long, it as "uh oh".

Honestly that game was kind of broken and probably required town to have no more than 1 mislynch ever to even have a chance of winning.

The scum poison and the 3P combined were pretty absurd.

But that other site is so soft I'd probably get warned again just for saying that sooooo we'll see if I get out of my second game without getting banned.

Psy deserved way worse than I gave him.

He tried pulling that con artist act here and he would've been policy lynched very very quickly.

To put it in cliffnotes, Psy was a "new" player.. But what he really was was a troll who knew exactly what he was doing and was actively disrupting the game just for funsies. I caught him on this day 1 and never interacted with him again. Late on day 3 after acting like the most clueless twit possible and making people re-explain basic game mechanics over and over again, he slipped information about something game related he should not have known, and it broke the paper-thin illusion he had been putting up. He then refused in any way to acknowledge what he had done, and disappeared. Dude was dead within an hour.

I absolutely despise players like this in mafia. He had no intention of actually playing the game from the start. If I were vig I would've put him down on day 1.

Crescent is the most toxic player here so her getting warnings at another forum speaks well for them

Still miffed at her being one of the volleys of torpedoes of my most recent game too, and I haven't seen Lea since, either. Maybe Crescent should actually get some comeuppance for flaunting the disregard of the "don't block players" rule beyond "I ain't signing up for a game she's promoting."

I was far more tame in my second game (as noted by multiple people, my behavior was significantly improved overall) and still got banned for a month for basically doing nothing.

Worthless site with a mostly worthless sack of players. No thanks.

If players like Millium, Zug, or Frost want to come over here that'd be fine. Show them a group of people who actually knows how to play mafia.

I'd say maybe 1/3 of the players I've dealt with have any actual concept of how to play mafia. The common strategy tends to be "pile on people for no reason and hope".

Some of the people in the games seem to play quite lax, this is true. You also didn't get a chance to play with several of the better players who kind of do other things to begin the year.

It's always a mixed bag and player lists do matter. I think though, objectively, you could have handled yourself a lot better even if there were some players who were lacking.

Not like all of our games always have had banger player lists over the years.

What is this wack ass site. I'll play and see what they are working with. We will see if Crescent is vindicated or not.

Both games were 1/3 inactive players over 1/3 of the actually participating people voting randomly and getting mad if you asked them to explain their votes. The days are basically all the same. The same 4-5 people actually argue, a few other people occasionally side comment. and then they just randomly lynch an inactive for no real reason and hope they're scum. The inactive flips town, they rehash mostly the same arguments the next day.. And then they just lynch another inactive and hope they're scum.

The two games had mostly different player lists but were essentially identical.

Seriously though, if we ever do have another game here, someone at least invite Millium from that site to join. Some others would be ok, but they above the rest earned my respect.

They're a legit player who is being wasted by that community, and I want them to see a real mafia game.

The community their is very young, they have a very relaxed environment for sure. The past 2 games have been pretty much half the game playing activity a few people popping in with minor thoughts. Then 2 or 3 inactive.

Haha. Please have no fear. I know them by wisp and they are a very well known player who plays on multiple sites. I did a lot to help him when I was around on mtgs.

But this site is absolutely tragic for mafia because it isn't a mafia forum. I have raised the thought of having a sub community on mu but you lot don't like the idea so hey fair enough.

After your ban if you want to be a nice kitten I can just clue you in on which games have banger player lists. Usually when I am over there these days I am relaxed and carefree because they are young and many are pretty chill. Our community doesn't have one of the best track records in champs for nothing we are very strong here. But gotta pick your spots elsewhere.

You would probably enjoy playing with people like marl, windy, arete, and litten quite a bit to name a few.

Sultan was trying to figure out what I even did to get banned and I think it's because I told some people in that game that the horribly ineffective way they were playing mafia in general was wrong.

I do know it pissed off that twit Leafia to be told actually having justification for your votes matters, for example.

Yeah im a bit spoiled on MU and FOL to a lesser extent by the iso buttons but something about playing on here is nostalgic and feels like home.

Also I love litten only one from that list I played with. Creasent might like MU a bit better around when people are only in 1 game like champs. I feel like she'd vibe with Ultra and Delta and some of them other guys over there

Eh Crescent should've known better to join another game there after how much she hated the first, and I know I'd be banned within 24 hours if I tried a game there but it's not amusing enough to find out.

But Chris, real talk.

That community is a bunch of sorry, weak willed sods with little fundamental understanding of how Mafia works. You like it so much because you get to put in minimal effort and still play god.

You're better than that community, and you know it. More importantly though, they know it.

If you ever feel like playing Mafia against some real opponents again, just remember you've got some of them right here.

That place seems pretty chill. A good place to play Mafia if you don't want total chaos, but not where you go for a truly serious game. This is based on the one game I replaced in for, though.

I plan to pay there again whenever I have a need for a less stressful game. Which you all know is going to happen. I think Chris just wanted to take it easy, but he also knows this site doesn't have any features for Mafia. Maybe we should try having a game where he wants. I'm game for that now tbh

I just want to say Im the best and most experienced mafia player in b8 history and everyone else is terrible (or worse) at mafia and leaks butt cheese. You smell like a burnt plastic doll and engaging with this community gives me all the satisfaction of chugging a full Dr. Pepper two-liter thats been sitting in 90 degree weather.

Real talk? I don't need to play God anywhere. I am not a God on FOL, although I wrote flavor for a game poking fun of that image of me if anyone wants to read it, I am a teacher. Not that you would know this since you don't really know the situation but i was invited there a couple of years ago after I had a rough game from a good friend of mine as a chill place with low toxicity. Then the first game someone told a fellow player to kill themselves oops. They got permabanned at least.

At any rate like any community they have their strong and weak players, and on average I have proven myself to be above their average capacity as both alignments, but I could say the same for here as well. They just haven't quite learned to fear kill me as quickly as you guys did.

There aren't any places for me to really go. I play in a lot of different places. sc2mafia is a well known, highly skilled community. Won a 3p game there last year while having a delightful time. The Org has some of the very best people swing by to play in games, and I had two excellent games including a scum sweep of a player list full of people i would say are as good if not better than I am as a player blow by blow.

MU, mafia universe, is the biggest smush of players that play mafia online and in their year end awards I have a nomination for my scum play, my town play, and my mechanical play. I'm good in the confidence department when it comes to mafia.

I don't play here much (although I did play a fair few times last year) because the lack of features is truly mind numbing once you go elsewhere, and really there's nothing left for me here because I feel the way I am treated is set in stone most games. The meta on how to play me hasn't evolved in a long time. Maybe it shouldn't, you know fair. I enjoy most of our games together, but those two things make it so I feel like my mafia playing journey here is complete. If i ever felt like i could just be goofy and relaxed here I'd probably play more, but it is hard to be that way here for me.

The fact you need to spend so many words insulting players who just play the game for fun, and are mostly eager to learn and who a lot of them are barely adults says more about you than it does them.

Mafia is supposed to be fun. It's a hobby, and I already spent too much time here treating it like it wasn't. I would love to play with any of you on fol, on MU, or any other site i visit. Any of you are always welcome to play with me, you are my friends. But fol has been kind to me when I personally needed a lot of kindness, and the worst thing i can say about 95% of the people on there is that they aren't as good at mafia as me, which is ok.

and that player crescent loved to play with? He was once young and inexperienced too. He'd tell you that I and others helped him grow into the fantastic player he is today. You don't get players like him if you just toss aside people wanting to learn.
