Didn't they not even have this like 20 yrs ago or so? not sure. But having both in one bottle does make it more convenient. Some even have body wash with both of them. , all together. You think these all in one's are usually , work just as well as the single ones?

it is? So you think combining the 2 usually leads to a drop off in quality?

there are a few upscale brands that have decent products that are 2 in 1. But yes, as the products fundamentally serve different purposes that generally require separate wash cycles

I think when they are combined like that, the conditioner is only like 5% effective compared to doing it separately.

Conditioners don't revitalize or nourish your hair, it's dead, it just hydrates it a bit the gives it a coating. Shampoo will remove that coating, so 2 in 1 will rinse a bit of that coating away.

I use different products. Shampoo tends to use harsher chemicals, so I actually use a cowash instead.

I have a conditioner I use as well for deep condition days. But if I need to clean my hair then I use a cowash specifically. Which is less likely to dry out my hair.

In pre civilization, I think people just didn't bother to maintain clean bodies. Everyone probably smelled like shit, 24 7

In civilization, for most of history, I think most people never bathed, or did it very rarely. And relied on very heavy perfume

https://curlsmith.com/blogs/product-guides/co-wash-vs-shampoo

Curly hair has a harder time staying moisturized. Avoiding shampoos that strip our hair of its natural oils is, as a result, not good.

I used to use shampoos after taking braids out or something, as Id have more product buildup. But I stay mostly in an afro state nowadays.

i kinda think this as well. Prob most would disagree, it seems like conditioner kinda leaves hair feeling drier , if anything.

The 2-in-1s have been around since the 80s because I used one in high school (latter 80s).

I haven't used a 2-in-1 for years now because my hair needs more conditioning. I typically use shampoo only a few times a week but use conditioner every day. I have to wash my hair because I work out in the morning.

I'm female, btw, with longish hair that is very fine and very straight. It gets staticky in certain weather conditions, so conditioner is a must for me. My hair's not oily, so shampoo is less important.

Which conditioner are you using? I usually stick with the ones that label themself as being for super dry hair. The label says they don't contain sulfates or parabens. Apparently sulfates are meant to strip your hair if oil (sounds counter intuitive for a conditioner) and parabens can cause irritation in your scalp. So something without those should make for a good conditioner.

Definitely look into making the switch. Shampooing and conditioning are two completely different processes. They shouldn't be coming from the same bottle. It takes a lot of trial and error to find the products that are right for you, but in the long run I feel like it's worth it.

It's not for a conditioner. ACV washes are meant to strip the ever loving fuck out of your hair. It's pretty much only necessary if you use a lot of products that you don't wash out of your hair everyday and you need to get rid of buildup.
