I'm cheating because I'm Canadian. I remember my mom running around in the mid 90s shopping for 53 cents a litre fuel.

In MN and ND, yeah, a lot.

We used to drive around all day on $5 of gas, slow as fuck... but still.

No, as a kid, I didn't pay enough attention to gas prices to remember them. But apparently, even Los Angeles had gas under $1 in my lifetime. That's crazy to me.

I specifically remember seeing gas for .98 for only one day at a gas station I used to work at. That was like 2001 or so

Never saw it hit below a dollar after that day

Im sure it was below that plenty of times before that in years prior but thats the only instance I remember

It was never a clear 1:1 conversion. The nice thing about living in a border city was going to the US for a day to shop and get "cheap" fuel.

Kind of? I don't remember any specific prices but I vividly remember being in the back seat when my normally mild-mannered (in public, at least) dad went ballistic when he saw the $1/gallon sign at the pump. Still smile when I pass that station.

Mr. "Never Make a Scene in Public (or it's your ass)" made quite a scene.

I don't distinctly remember seeing it on the signs, but looking up historical prices for Alaska shows that the average price stayed below $1 (and usually well below) from 1991 through 1999, and I was born in '89.

When I was working and driving in high school it was normally around $1.10 in 1993 and 1994 when I was a junior and senior but would often dip to $.99 or even $.95. I was driving a little 4 cylinder car you could fill up completely from empty for like $12.

Billy Clinton was probably one of the last good presidents. Like in the USA of course things were marginalized but I dunno you could just put on Conan O'Brien and Clinton's dumb face would show up in a skit and he'd talk about smoking pot and not inhaling or the scandal involving Monica Lewinsky.

Just seemed like things were more care free back then.

Exactly why I said 'shamelessly'. Back as a youth, I'll admit that I wasn't as savvy with politics as I try to keep up with these days.

I still have one of those Biden "I did that" stickers I tore off of a gas pump (in rage), but back in Clinton's era I probably would have been one of the people putting them on.

I live in the north east USA for perspective and gas price got near or at 5 dollars at times. The cheapest I remember them being though I don't care about this shit anymore is like 2 something. I haven't seen below 2 dollars gas prices since the turn of the millenium.

Mad because (those) stickers could have been enough to sink an election these days, especially when you kept hearing about Biden being even in the polls (or below in some of the swing states).

It ain't just about Biden. There are minorities here trying not to be rounded up and treated like the marginalized over there on that 'strip'.

Friends,

I was born in 63, so I graduated HS in 81. I remember gas under a dollar.
and I had a 125 CC motorcycle, so it used like just a DROP of gas.

in the 70's we had a oil crisis, and people were lining up and pushing there cars.
back then they said " it would take 50 years" to get off of foreign oil.

well guess what, its been almost 50 years, and we made very little progress.

about 2 years ago, I had a big V8 truck, and gas got to 5 bucks a gallon, that was
a real eye opener.
