Fuck, I didn't realize how painful this matchup was. I was so preoccupied with setting up my song list as a nominator that I didn't step back to think about the matchup as a listener. I've been a fan of all the TMNT songs that I've heard since VGMC. But this is like, my game, my soundtrack, it would take a lot for me to vote against it. And unfortunately match 3 is the only one here that's actually in question. It might be closer if Whirlpool Tune wasn't my favorite of all the map themes in the game (which is funny because we were discussing using a few other songs but eventually settled on Whirlpool Tune). So yeah, when Splatoon 3 inevitably loses because nothing that I like can ever be popular, then I'll gladly be supporting TMNT in future rounds.

Fun is a good way to describe this OST. And cheesy! It feels like an early 90s OST uplifted to modern standards. Energizing rapping throughout and the retro ending is a treat.

The experimental nature of Splatoon music can be a blessing or a curse to me, or should I say that the piss guzzling vocals are a blessing or a curse. This is a case where the vocals feel spotty to me in a few places, but manage to shine in most places. Overall positive, thanks to the energetic samba vibes.

Oh no I'm going to have this song stuck in my head all year.

I love songs that make me think "is this what my brain would be like on DRUGS." I don't do drugs. And this is a better example of experimental Splatoon music that works in my favour (even though Omega 3 is easily my favourite in universe music group) Jesus Christ match 2 is super hard ....

Yeah, this one feels very Sonic to me. If I didn't know this OST was Tee Lopes, I may have been like "wow is this Tee Lopes?" just about now. This is the kind of fun romp to work out to.

So I just wanna say I dislike the use of transitions in these particular uploads of the Site themes. Besides that I really like what this is doing. It really does feel like an abandoned location slowly returning to life.

Third Turtles track did not impress me, but the Splatoon song did not capitalize. I bet I'd like it if I was entreated to it as background music of a game, but waiting for it to end so I can place a vote in a contest match was not doing it any favors.

I'm not a huge fan of the TMNT OST or anything, and I remember Splatoon 1 having some tracks I'm pretty into, but this set of tracks from 3 does nothing for me, alas.

  • Mutants has a fun instrumental and the rapping fits well, cool song. Anarchy Rainbow is your standard Splatfest song that's designed to get catchy as hell; and the chorus works pretty well on that regard, I always have a like for this type of rhythm. Pretty even match here... let me go with my more familiar pick, then.
  • Panic in the Sky continues to be very sick, the vocals being my favorite part. I do wish it was longer, though. Oh damn it, I love Octo-endemic samples very much. This song isn't messing around either. Uhhhhhh... octopi time. But it was a close choice.
  • Awesome, give me the funky turtles. Love this one! Whirpool is nice, but the good part takes a lot to slip in. This one was kind of a slip.
