Interestingly I will note that if matches 1 and 2 were each the opposite matchup, I would have voted for Nocturnal over Green Area. Green was my least favorite of the 3 worm songs today, but Silver Bullet was my least favorite of all 6 match songs. I liked Nocturnal enough that I'd vote it over a lesser worm song.

Immediately I can tell that the music of WoRMeR Deluxe isn't quite my thing, but this is still endearing enough as a faux-retro romp. This track definitely improves as we go along.

I love how scary the intro to this one is. This song manages to hold up a feeling of "darkness" throughout. Like Dirty Androids was hired to remix some 80s horror theme to be "rhythm-gameish". I think the moments of levity do a good job at not making it sound like a sludge of noise.

Green Area is more my speed. I really like how the music descends. Makes me think of starlight.

I like Silver Bullet, but I feel like I'd *love* it if there was an extended version. It kind of just feels like its rushing through, and not in the absolutely insane way I usually say this about rhythm music.

This song is absolutely insane (complimentary) and I swear a part of it reminds me of a Shovel Knight song? I think I'm getting the right game here. Really cool, though it feels a little short/over too quick.

I kinda got some JRPG god entity vibe from the beginning, and like a second later vocals start. This is the fastest my expectations have changed. LOL J-pop is one of those things where it can take a few listens to get into the groove of it, but I know I enjoy this one right out the gate.

Can't believe I started out by saying WoRMeR Deluxe isn't my thing. Egg = on my face.

it really is funny how wormer dx has so many songs in it even though it only takes about 5 minutes to explore the whole thing and beat it. i guess to be fair the same can be said for donut dodo too. anyway these matches are very unfortunate and also very close, i didn't expect to be going with a full 3-0 vote here given how good the worm songs are

also it looks like i probably shouldn't have given the rhythmgame noms low seeds, i thought this field may have just been too stacked for them to do super well this time but uhhhhh

good thing wormer dx (most probably) losing is now an inconsequential outcome since it was also revealed to not be a 2022 game and i'm just showing mercy on it by allowing it to still compete, but it does mean corru, tunic and pso2 should now be more concerned than i expected...

First match is ridiculous. Blue Area is bouncy fun zaniness and I am here for it. There's just so much creativity. But Nocturnal also absolutely nails what it's going for. The breakdown is so well done too; I love it when a song fills its runtime the way Nocturnal does. I'm going to give the edge to Blue, but god this is close.

Green is a clear step down from Blue, but it's still not bad. I like the syncopated rhythm on the scales, not quite sure how to describe it but it's cool. The bit at 1:00 is just neat. Silver bullet starts out with bullet-fast piano, which is weird because fancy pianos are made of ebony and ivory, not silver god what a silly song-namer you are. The song threatens to be more than just a show of piano dexterity at times, but it never gets there for me. Though the doubling with... whatever that is in the back half is a nice touch.

Boss Fight feels very megamany. I want to grab onto something, and the song just says "no." That's definitely not a bad thing in a boss fight, but it makes it hard for me to enjoy quite as much. WHY IS THERE A RANDOM GREEK LETTER IN A JAPANESE ARTIST'S NAME i don't approve of this. i'm going to be doing a translation of this aren't I. Ooh I like the instrumental bit after the intro. "iya nan da" with the instrumentals dropped off ooh that was nice.

Feels weird to go from a close match, to a blow out one way, to a blow out the other way, but here we are. "Here" being lyricland. Enjoy:
