Hate it.

it was recently banned in Mexico

I remember everyone thinking DST would be permanent, not realizing only the Senate passed it and it never got through the House before that Congress ended, therefore killing all bills that hadn't passed both yet.

Tis' a shame, but for now, we stick to time traveling twice a year.

I thought Congress voted to end it for the US.

No. It's a minor inconvenience at worst. Get over it.

I've actually grown to like it. The daylight hours actually do change with the seasons, and I start wanting to sleep in more during the darker, colder seasons.

Its no longer necessary so why even need it anymore? Tradition? Bah!

Only problem is it'd be dark in the mornings until spring. Not terrific for schoolkids &/or commuters. Dark + cold winter = pass.

For a nation founded on the christian god they really gave the invisible man upstairs a giant ass middle finger to his whole day cycle idea with DST.

No. There's no reason for it anymore.

I don't really care if we get rid of it or go to permanent DST. I wish we'd pick one and stay with it instead of changing the clocks twice a year.

Its Daylight Saving Time, as in the time of saving daylight. Should be Daylight-Saving Time imo. I would be okay with getting rid of it, yes.

I find most people who say they want DST banned actually want to ban Standard Time and stay on DST.

Me personally if they were going to stay on one of them I would prefer to stay on Standard Time but honestly I dont care about the time switching. Its 1 hour and Im adjusted literally the day it happens. No big deal to me.

Wellness personnel hate DST: Setting the clocks so that the sun goes down later causes you to produce melatonin later as well. Meaning not only are the clocks pushed back but you're body will encourage you to stay up later than you should because of the time the sun is now setting. Combined, this results in less effective and restful sleep for the entirety of DST.
Educators hate DST: Education is significantly less effective for weeks after DST. Students are groggy and unfocused.
Safety hates DST: Car accidents are super common during the first few weeks of DST.
Economists hate DST: Less sleep means more costly business fuck ups, less productivity outside of that.

I could go on. Pretty much every professional field hates DST and wants it gone. And of course Biden tried to make it permanent. The correct answer would be to make Standard Time permanent. But the worst effects of DST occur during the transition period, so either way would be better than what we have now.

DST being supported by farmers is a myth, and they've actually been one of the biggest opponents of the time changing from the beginning. It was meant for reducing energy consumption - mainly during WW1 - but DST fucks up the harvesting and milking schedule for farmers.

Eh, that's just something you have to accept when you have time zones. It's true for any time zone. Kind of kicked me in the head when I went to the west side of Texas on a trip once (I live on the east coast of Florida) because of how different the sun set at an equivalent hour to what I expected from my home.

That's an easy mistake to make since in the U.S. DST has been extended a few times. So we're only on "standard" time for about a third of the year at this point.

The one where it doesnt get dark at 4pm is the one we need to keep.

I cook outside and hate that it gets dark at 8 PM for about a third of the year, so Im for whichever time makes the daylight last longer in the evening and making it permanent. I dont give a fuck if its dark in the morning, I sleep late anyway.

I miss MT time. We never changed. But driving to work at 5am and being there for a couple hours of darkness is for the birds. I hate it. Then coming home to 45m of daylight.

Well whatever, just find a time and stick with it.

Its the dumbest thing ever just have the same universal time worldwide with their respective time zones of course and thats it.

Yup just pick one and stick with it. I couldn't care less which is permanent either.

I work overnight on Sunday so itll affect me. Wish they got rid of that stupid tradition.

Why not cut the difference and jump all time zones a permanent half hour?

Yeah but you'll still have to endure how that feels different across a single time zone, regardless of what the clock says. 7:30 PM to me is a lot different than 7:30 in like...the Panhandle.

If you keep the summer time, then it would be dark for way too long in the winter.
If you keep the winter time, then it's way too bright way too early in the morning.

I'm in Central European time zone and during December with current Daylight savings it's completely dark until like 7am. Gets dark again at like 4:30pm.
But in July it starts dawning at like 3:30am and it doesn't get dark until 9pm.

Can't have neither 8am dark in the winter nor 2:30-3am dawn in the summer.
