Only for things that haven't been released on Blu-ray/HD digital. I don't usually watch the actual DVD though, I rip it to digital and put it on my Plex server.

I never really watched them. I had like 5 growing up that I watched on repeat but never was into them. I understand why people cling to physical media but I just don't like having so much stuff in my home.

Blu-ray? Sure. Watch movies from redbox on bluray if I see one I'm interested in. Also bought The Last of Us Season 1 on UHD

Nope, not usually. I have been slowly watching the Fast and Furious Franchise with my girlfriend (she hadn't seen any of them) and we watched the first few movies on DVD. But that was only because they aren't available on streaming without buying or renting them first.

The DVD release of the Star Wars OT predates the only alteration that ever really got under my skin (Vader's 'NOOOOOO'), so that's my preferred method of watching it if I ever get the itch.

I would definitely love to expand my Blu-ray collection. There are too many streaming services to keep up subs on, and they tend to drop content on a whim.

Also, it would be nice to pass time watching a movie if/when my internet goes out.

No, I very rarely get DVDs or Blu-rays from the library.

I used to collect DVDs, but dropped that completely once streaming started taking off over a decade ago.

If you're in the US, the first 5 are Prime. They were all on Netflix until recently. A few of the later ones will be an issue though.

That depends on your definition of watch.
Watch DVDs themselves? No.
Watch the contents of DVDs / Blu-Rays Ive ripped and hosted on my NAS to stream over my network with Jellyfin / Emby / Plex? Yes. This is all I do now, I dont pay for streaming services anymore.

Yes, I don't really do the streaming services and my tv is only 720p so they're fine. I have a blu-ray player too but it's really just for the stuff that's only on blu or new releases that are cheaper than the old dvd would be.

Yeah

Streaming is good for movies but it should not be the only way to watch movies at home. With how many options there are for streaming and how very few can afford all of them, physical media should remain as an alternative.

Some things dont get Blu-Ray releases. I recently bought sealed copies of the Buffy Chosen Collection and Angel Complete Series. Charmed did get a Blu-Ray HD re-release, which is apparently well done, unlike the awful Buffy HD upscale they did for streaming sites.

Highlander: The Series is another one that got a DVD collection release in 2020 and wasnt upscaled for Blu-Ray, so Ill probably pick that up at some point.
