I bought the DLC and barely got anywhere in part 1. It's literally reselling portions of the Pokedex that were deliberately stolen to then resell for this very purpose. Being in such a small-section, the DLCs are usually better than the base game is. WingsOfGood posted... They fix the bugs now? Most of the gamebreaking/fun bugs like cloning stuff are gone, but everything more than 5 feet from your character is still about 5 fps. Because there's obviously some attempt to handle it, it makes me think the whole underlying engine is just so poorly optimized they can't really do much short of going through everything from the ground up. Which is an annoyance, in hindsight, but oh boy did it make me mad, just via the sheer number of trainers who had things that could Wrap you in scenarios you absolutely did not want it to happen, like Rock Tunnel. Warts and all I'm glad to have a story that I can take seriously for a change and the switch to open world format really works well. The music is stellar and I'm probably never going to forget Area 0. I wish it were better executed, I wish the graphics and performance were actually contemporary, and I wish it wasn't so obviously GameFreak's minimum standard. Gen 7 comes close but those games had long swaths that put me to sleep. Also, Larry the best Gym Leader period. --- Others don't get to dictate what's normal and what isn't. They need to get their shit together. I had far, far more fun with Arceus than I have with Pokemon in a long time and they ditched all that made that good. The open world is trash in Scarlet, it has no flow and feels like rolling hills of nothing. No fun level design, no interesting routes, just big open meh. It's nonsense. I'll take a brand new top down Pokemon over their completely failing attempts to make open world any day of the week. Maybe they can play around with Arceus more and produce a quality product, but Scarlet is terrible.
