Yeah. It's a sliding timeline. Like everyone has smart phones and can send each kther shitty memes now. Sometimes even Simpsons memes.

Floating/sliding timeline would work if granpa Simpson weren't a WW2 veteran.
Or did they retcon it into Korean or Vietnam war? Can't wait until it changes to Gulf War

They have never retconned Abe or Skinner's wars. It's just never mentioned.

Although Mr. Burns age is either about the same, or in some cases, even older.

He is, but Abe was already in his 40s or so when he had Homer in the 1960s.

But Homer was a toddler at Woodstock, which would make him Gen X.

Simpsons should have aged in real time.

Imagine if we were following Lisa's family right now. (I don't see Bart getting married imo)

I've thought about that before. Lots of times. I wonder what the show would be like. An actual working example is an old comic strip called For Better Or For Worse. The family in that strip aged in real time. It was really popular in the 90s

Abe Simpson is still a WWII vet, and Seymour Skinner is still a 'Nam vet. The two of them (and Agnes Skinner by extension) just retroactively become older and older as the show goes on and the sliding timescale stretches further and further into the future. If The Simpsons keeps going long enough, then eventually, Grampa and Principal Skinner will be the last living survivors of their respective wars in-universe.

Yes. He also makes mention throughout the series of having helped the Axis during the war (e.g. in "A Star is Burns", he tries to get Spielberg's non-union Mexican equivalent to direct his biopic for a film festival, and explicitly compares himself to Oskar Schindler in that they're both factory owners and they "both made shells for the Nazis, but [Burns' artillery shells] worked, damn it!" during the pitch).

Mr. Burns was also once said to have orchestrated the Opium War of 1839-1842, a 19th Century woodcut depicts him terrorizing children while looking no younger than he is today, he uses his current age for his ATM PIN in one episode and the first number he pushed wasn't 0, and another episode claims his birthplace as Pangaea (the supercontinent that began to break apart 200 million years ago), all of which makes him impossibly old.

Thats what I was thinking, homer being baby boomer and bart being gen x. Maggie being born in the late 80s means she would be a kid in the 90s and thus a millenial

It was pre-Maggie, Todd Homer Flanders was being born.
A young Lisa sits on her parents bed, watching a modern flatscreen TV.
They dont "never age", they are born later.

There's also an early episode where he tells Homer he's in his 80s.
