Like...you give me a glazed donut from Dunkin or Krispy Kreme, can't tell the difference, they taste the same. Same with a cupcake or a cookie. Unless the texture is wildly different, for whatever reason, the stuff just doesn't have enough if a distinct taste. Just sweet. I'm not a big sweets person either, so maybe that's it?

But you give me a plain ol steak or a burger and I can tell you exactly what's different tasting about them.

That's wild. Dunkin has some pretty mediocre donuts. They're kept afloat on coffee.

They all smell like donuts. Earlier in the week my friend brought me some of the 'best cupcakes' she's ever had. It tasted like a cupcake. Just overly sweet with frosting and cake and some sprinkles.

How do people tell the difference? I've got no clue.

I'm more talking about different...maybe types was the wrong word. But like different brands of donuts.

Same thing with gummies, or any type of candy. Sour gummy worms? All taste the same. Gummy bears? Same. Cupcakes? The same.

Yeah I just had a donut from there and the local grocery store has better donuts. To be fair the grocery store actually makes them on premises.
I had a Boston crme and the filling on the grocery store has a better taste. And it was bigger.

This is what I first thought when I read this topic. Different people have a different number of taste buds and the more you have the more sensitive you are to different flavors.

It sounds like you may be in the lowest 0.1%, or possibly even lower.

I'm kind of the same way... I don't have that super "sweet tooth" so unless its really bad ice cream or a stale donut, its all the same to me.

But on the other hand, I can tell subtle differences in savory foods like buffalo wings, burgers, pizza, the pepperoni on the pizza, etc...

If there are supertasters (and there are), it stands to reason that there subtasters, who can barely taste anything.

I used to like Krispy Kreme as a child. Had it recently, and find them to be way too sweet. There's a couple local doughnut shops here that are waaay better.
