So.... can we haz budget now?Johnson has advocated hard for cuts to Social Security and Medicare in the past. I say let him put forward a budget that includes cuts to both of those and let's see how that works out for Republicans. But if they do?...I find it hard to believe that the last remaining "sane" Republicans would go with it. They are still terrible, but not that far gone. And the Senate would not pass it and Biden would not sign it even if it did somehow get through. No where near a Supermajority to override a veto. pedro45 posted... But if they do?... Make financial decisions with the assumption that social security won't exist when you're elderly. if it still does, then great you're totally set, if it doesn't....you're prepared. What that means in practice is beyond doing everything you can to own your own home, no matter how small or crappy it is... divest yourself as much as possible from the economy. Save feverishly, cook everything at home, minimize your entertainment spending, don't travel.... Just put as little money into the economy as possible. Not only will it help you save up money, it'll hurt the corporations and rich ass holes that perpetrated this upon us by cutting into their profits. Think of it as an act of peaceful rebellion. I think they just caved like we always knew they would. In the end, no functioning government is exactly what the crazies want, so there was no way they would ever be the ones to give in. The spineless ones on the other hand still think they are on the side of democracy.
