It's an achievement. Serial Experiments Lain feels obligatory. It nailed "present day, present time" with a theme and subject just as relevant now, or maybe moreso, than it was then. And I'm not certain for the third slot. I haven't consumed an enormous amount of anime so like some other very good shows I've seen were Madoka Magica, Erased, and Assissnation Classroom. HxH is amazing but kinda long and unlike Death Note I'm not convinced the anime is a big improvement over the source material, in terms of production it is more on the lines of competent. That's fine its just not an achievement IMO like Lain or DN are.
