Anyone else been feeling the same way lately? Especially in the past two weeks with the Israel-Hamas situation, the world just feels like a never ending dumpster fire.

Even when I've gone to the grocery store recently, I feel the intensity and uneasiness from people.

And before someone tells me to stop watching the news, I don't watch the news. But I mean, it's not like I live under a rock. Of course I know what's going on even if I'm not one of those avid 24/7 news watchers.

I feel like we're living through way too many major historical events these days

Nah. I live in blissful ignorance because I am privileged enough to have never had things truly affect my life, aside from things like rising gas and grocery prices.

World has always been a raging dumpster fire. We're just hearing more news now.

Considering inflation affects literally everyone except the rich, unless you have a really good source of consistent income, chances are that one thing will end up affecting you a lot in the long term.

That's not even counting anything else bad about the world. It's truly fucked. I feel like the "blissful ignorance" stage of life has passed by me, and I can no longer just get by through ignoring everything (aside from the news and stuff). Adult life is completely terrible.

The rich are living their best lives while the poor will continue to get fucked over. Its the sad reality we live in.

For me, it's been going on since around the start of COVID. Around me, a lot of people are worried about the global economy being severely crippled by the conflict in Isreal, to the point of potentially not being able to afford food (don't know where this is coming from, but people have discussed it). Conservatives seem convinced that the US will actively join the war. The price of groceries is eye-watering and continues to climb. One third of the US government is currently non-functional and can't pass any legislation, with no end in sight.

Any or all of those things might be doing it in terms of the mood of the public in my small conservative area. I also suspect COVID itself might have done something. I've personally seen people post COVID being noticeably slower mentally and more withdrawn emotionally.

Part of being an adult is learning to except (or change if possible) the shittier parts of the world. I'm pretty bad at it, so I turned into a social recluse.

There's a mill meme about this that predates the current escalated violence between Hamas-IDF, but still expresses the same sentiment.

The most descriptive one is like, "Millennials living through Y2K, 9/11, a plague, 2 economic recessions, and a possible World War 3 before hitting 40"

It's not getting to me because I've been at peace that humanity will destroy itself eventually. There's no hope, been just getting worse.

I mean, you have no control over how other drivers behave on the road, however I feel like you should still worry (be aware and alert) that a car near you may suddenly spin out or, as an accident that almost killed my mom, aunt, uncle, and grandma happened in 2004, a person randomly falling asleep behind the wheel due to a medical condition.

For clarity, an elderly woman with a medical condition (don't remember if the issue was she hadn't taken her drugs or it was because of her drugs) fell asleep behind the wheel, drove my family's vehicle off the road, causing it to flip over multiple times in a ditch.

Always some conflict or war of some sort.

Entirely depends on your adult life. Theres plenty of bad shit going on in the world and Im not without sympathy for those suffering, but my adult life is great and I sincerely doubt Im the only one.

Social media plays a big role in how people access news, for the better or worse. Better, because we have access to more news. Worse, because some people can easily be manipulated or are being stirred up against something or someone. I see that as a threat for our global societies.

Can you do something about it? No? Why worry?
