Rules:
  1. Rate each character on a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being the lowest, and 10 being the highest. Anything above 10 gets rounded down to a 10, and anything below a 1 gets rounded up to a 1.
  2. Anything beyond the ten's place will be rounded accordingly: .04 or lower gets rounded down to .0 and .05 or higher gets rounded up to .1
  3. You don't have to rate every character. You can skip any that you don't know or don't feel like rating.
  4. "Character" is defined loosely, but priority will be given to playable characters and major villains. Depending on participation/demand, this may be expanded.
  5. If you miss a topic or topic(s) you can still rate characters from previous topics. Just please try to keep them in the order I have them in the spreadsheet. It makes my life a lot easier.
  6. Feel free to nominate characters you'd like to see done next. There's no guarantee they'll be next, but they might receive higher priority.
  7. Please make it clear which characters you are giving each rating.


Honestly just picked three characters today. I'm sure they have something in common. I just don't know what! Hey, they can't all be themed. They're all slightly older than your typical Final Fantasy character, I guess! Vincent is technically 57!

I love stoic badasses but I think he's a little uh grounded for me? Like he's just no nonsense guy but doesn't really have "holy crap!!" moments. Also I mentioned this in Lulu's writeup but I think coexisting in the same cast with Lulu and Kimahri hurts him for me-- just a lot of gruff people killing enthusiasm for stuff. But he is absolutely the best of that trio by a lot.

Vincent - 5.5

He's fine. Awesome design. A little boring for me though I just don't really care about his backstory or anything and like Auron he's kinda grounded which for me I want my quiet badasses to be as over the top as possible. I'd probably like him more if I played Dirge of Cerberus. Maybe remake has some crazy moments too.

Steiner - 2

Probably a solid 3.5-4 if I wasn't bitter about him being rallied as a plucky underdog in SMFFFC by Sir Chris. Much like most FFIX characters he's got a strong personality but it's in the wrong ways, too strong really, and he just becomes an annoying caricature and not a real character.

Auron's pretty great. Great theme. Awesome story. What's not to like about Auron?

Vincent is pretty cool. I wish he were a little more plot relevant. Can't wait to see what the remake does with him.

Steiner is a pretty good character. Possibly the best comic relief in the game tbh.
