I started it in 2015 and didn't get far, but recently started it again determined to finish it and I did. But I'm reading you have to play through it on NG+ to get the true ending, and I dunno if I can muster the energy for that lol. The story was told in the most uninteresting manner possible, and the gameplay -- while engaging when you're actually in combat -- was made by people who seemingly hate fun.

To anyone else who played it, did you enjoy it? And would you recommend going through on NG+ for the secret ending?

Bad.

The main key details I remember about this game is a lady character designer decided to give all the playable female characters their own specialized panties. The motion blur for the HD port legit made some people sick before a later patch toned it down. There was blood and death everywhere w/ that bloody dead chocobo being one of the first things you see, and that bump of chicken sung the main theme song zero.

I never actually beat it though......one day I will/I still remember I own it.

You do not have to do this but there's some new story content only available on NG+. It has nothing to do with the ending.

Overall the game was great I thought. Just make sure to turn off the ally assistance feature.

Meh/10, story really fell apart near the end and the combat would have been more fun if they let you equip more than like 2 active abilities to a character.

Frankly if you are in NG+ the entire difficulty is already over. You carry over busted nonsense to the point that you breeze through everything.

Though I don't think it's the ending that you get on NG+. You get some side dankery, IIRC.

The main incentive for jumping in day 1 was to play the final fantasy 15 demo at the time, a.k.a. the brave fencer musashi with it's FF8 demo strategy, lol.

Im a FF fan, but cant get over the battle system. I'm baffled it got decent reviews.

Seriously. Not sure what the point is in unlocking so many abilities + spells when you can only equip 2 at a time.

That scene was cool. Though I did like most of the prerendered cutscenes (it helped they were some of the only scenes that had actual decent voice acting).

Really? I keep reading in walkthroughs that there's a new ending from doing NG+. Alongside extra scenes from new missions and such.

This is the only reason I bought it lol

You guys being way too hard on this game. It's got basically everything fans have been begging for since FFX first started cutting features like the world map.

• Fully explorable world map
• Airship you can control and fly around in
• Chocobo breeding
• Lots of different towns, shops, and quests in those towns
• Optional side dungeon shit that has nothing to do with any quests and is basically just rewards for exploring
• Challenge dungeon with really tough enemies
• Lots of customization with a "not-materia" system.

There's only two endings, the ending you get basically depends on how you answer a few questions at the end of the game and nothing else.

The world map would be better if it cut like half the empty space. And the almost copy-paste towns kinda blend together and didn't seem to offer anything that interesting.

I was confused on the airship, though. By the end of my playthrough, I could still only fly to like two towns on the map.

I got the ending where Dr. Mother is talking to two dudes named Tiz and Joker, who all just say vague stuff, and then it explains Mother revived Machina and Rem somehow.

You have to liberate the towns by doing the tactics missions otherwise you're not allowed inside.

Without spoiling anything In Another Spiral isn't exactly an alternate ending.

Haven't played it, but from watching others play, it looks like a game that would have been unacceptable two generations earlier.

Still. It's something to strive for, I guess.

That was the last time i actually went on vacation to play a game. It was a bit disappointing since i played it later and on pc but i just keep reminding myself that its just a psp game. Overall, it was pretty good. 7/10.

To be fair no one actually brings up bad games in those topics. They just fart about FFVIII nonstop and never actually mention anything even close to the bottom 10 of FF's.

I liked it a lot, especially the story and music.

Those challenges using the abilities and timing to unlock stuff were too difficult and frustrating. But yeah, I wish there was a sequel.

I remember thinking Cinque was cute and the gameplay system was confusing which turned me off completely from the game

Yeah, I like Cinque but I'm not a fan of her fighting style. Jack is similar to her but more fun, I feel.

That said, I'm a Cater guy. Her and Ace were really the only ones I used, since they're long distance.

I get got by this song and want to play the game, then I put a few hours in and then move on to something else lol. I'm also immensely disappointed by Ace being the most generic bland ambivalent protag ever and his voice somehow sounding even more disinterested this character seems.

Oh okay, I think those are the expert trials, then. Yeah the level requirements were always intimidating so I just ignored them. Maybe I'll try one in NG+.

There's a decent story somewhere beneath the crap storytelling, 1 dimensional characters, and aggravating gameplay.
