In this previous election they were expecting a red wave in the House and taking back the Senate, instead they got a 4 seat majority (all from New York, which did have redistricting and successful crime fearmongering) and saw the Dems gain a seat. Since Trump only gets worse and even more unhinged, never better, the pattern would suggest it very unlikely that suddenly people overwhelmingly come back into supporting him and his extremism.
